He's eligible to return for the Pukes game.

Rushing your 2nd best (arguably best) player back out from an injury for a barely non-zero playoff chance in a season like this?

Hard pass.

If you have even the slightest of chances at making the playoffs, you go for it. I highly doubt they are practicing him in full tomorrow, if he practices at all.

This is a concern that, really, isn't relevant until after the results of the Cowboys' game is in.

If Hicks is healthy you play him. If for no other reason than we need to see what we have after the injury.

What'll be interesting to see is if the pass rush improves notably while he's out there. IDK if the lack of pass rush is solely due to his absence or not.

This is far from rushing with a dislocated elbow. Most return within 3-6 weeks, actually. Even if it was a bad one and the prognosis stretched to 8 weeks. It will be 10 weeks come the GB game.

He's not going to be any healthier by next season. No more of risk playing now than there will be then. He's ready to play football. It's really just about getting his conditioning back to where it was.

Oh, and if Minnesota loses in Seattle on MNF and the Bears win. They're 1.5 games back of the wild card and one Minnesota loss away from controlling their own playoff destiny against them. They still play GB too. Outside of that; all that would be needed is one Rams loss to either Seattle, SF, Dallas or Arizona. It's not some "we need 10 different things to happen to get in" thing. If the Bears win their games then odds are in their favor. You go for it until that's done and over with.

I doubt that and I doubt he was all better and back to 100% after 3-6 weeks.

If he was,
Why was he still wearing a brace all the time as of last week? (and maybe still, I haven't seen newer dated pictures/video)
Why was he "unable to do a whole lot" in Sunday's practice, when he's been free to do all the bike/treadmill/stairclimber/whatever cardio in the world during his rest?
Why would Nagy say "Hicks will play against the Packers if he feels good enough"? If's he fully recovered, there's no "if" to being able to go. Reduction of snaps to ease him back, sure, but not uncertainty about playing at all.

Nope.
Whether his elbow gets back to 100% in a few weeks, in the offseason, or never, I would happily bet heavily that it isn't there now.

Well, I'm sure you've seen his MRI's, X-rays, medical charts and possess an appropriate knowledge in orthopedics to decipher that information correctly. So, I guess that settles it.

Also, I said that a bad dislocation can take around 8 weeks. I never asserted that he was 100% after 3-6.

I have clients who are on the verge of being cleared for full athletic activity that are still in a brace. It's a precaution and helps assure that his elbow is protected until that day comes.

Why was he "unable to do a whole lot" in Sunday's practice, when he's been free to do all the bike/treadmill/stairclimber/whatever cardio in the world during his rest?

Lol... Because riding a bike or walking a stairclimber TOTALLY gets your cardio/body in shape to play NFL football and fight 300 pound lineman. The cardio and strength that a middle aged woman needs it TOTALLY the same as Akiem Hicks.

Of course after two months off you're going to work him back in at a decent pace. Why the hell would you do anything else? What team works a guy with an injury like this right back into a full contact practice? lol

Why would Nagy say "Hicks will play against the Packers if he feels good enough"? If's he fully recovered, there's no "if" to being able to go. Reduction of snaps to ease him back, sure, but not uncertainty about playing at all.

No shit. Coaches always do that. A) They don't oversee any part of the recovery. B) They don't tip their hand at the podium. C) It's a figure of speech. "If he's ready then he's out there".

After all... what do I know? I'm just a trainer who takes a lot of his clients from his sister whose an orthopedic surgeon. Those who fancy themselves expert translators in "podium speak" and "reading between the lines" on injury reports are the ones who know what's up.

So...I think it's safe to say he wasn't 100% back on Dec 3
