Chicago Bears center Cody Whitehair bought his teammate Leonard Floyd’s four-bedroom, 2,896-square-foot house in Vernon Hills on Jan. 29 for $545,000.

And Floyd truly can welcome Whitehair to the neighborhood, as Floyd, an outside linebacker, now lives in a larger house about two blocks away, which he bought in April for $650,000.

The only reason I'd care about this is the implication of Floyd buying a new house in the area...does it in any indicate that he's confident he's getting a new deal here?

According to the article he wanted to live in a more isolated neighborhood. I don't know if it means anything beyond that.

Impressed these fellas are living in middle-classy hoods. Could be a move by Floyd to send a signal to the Bears. He isn't taking much risk. At that price range, he could probably get a small premium selling the place to a Bear fan simply by virtue of it having been owned by those two guys.

One thing I've learned from buying and selling multiple homes in the last year...the only people that make money are the friggin realtors and banks. Unless you have a massive margin on it.

This is why I'll be renting my condo if/when we move.

It says Floyd bought the house he's in last April though. So I don't know if it says anything about his contract situation, sounds like he's just been sitting on the old house for quite a while waiting for it to sell and then it happened to sell to Whitehair.

I've sold multiple homes mostly by myself and saved quite a bit. You list them on line and have your own open houses. Buyer's agents bring you the buyers because they have to - their clients see the house available on line and tell them to. So they ask you if you'll pay them the 3% and you tell them no but you'll go 1.5% (which is what they'd get paid sometimes anyway in a multi-agent deal). They almost always go for it. Then you can find a lawyer that will review the paperwork and represent you for $5-700. It does matter the location though.

There are catches, though. I've always made it a point to buy in places with great schools, and where I was able to do my own comps fairly easily. I think some agents actually low-ball you on setting the price because they want the thing to move and their commission rate doesn't move nearly as much as your dollars with a decrease.

Funny stories when I first moved to Saline outside of Ann Arbor, I bought Chuck Swirski's house. He had a full broadcast setup in the basement and did a lot of remote work when he was with the Raptors. And then I built in the same neighborhood on the other side and Pep Hamilton bought my house and he still lives there (he's 2-0, baby!). I'll guess because of the school district.

Back on topic - Go Bears! lol
