Garafalo is reporting on NFL Network the deal will be redone, but no specifics at this point

Do we put Trubisky on the block now? Who'd have interest? NE? I'd dump him for a 6th or 7th.

If it's the 4th straight up, I think it's an awful trade.

Eh. A fourth is way to high but the restructure could certainly help. He does seem to do well in the playoffs, so I guess there is that and his familiarity with our offense.

Hell no. Foles isn't a starter. He's a garbage QB. He's a bigger Chase Daniel with a better arm.

I'm on the other side of the fence here... I like the move (pending $$$)

Foles is definitely better than Daniel. He's better than Trubisky is today as well. Trubisky does still have some upside, but today Foles should be the clear starter.

If we don't trade Trubisky, I worry about their ability to fill the remaining holes with the cap, though I guess how a Foles restructure looks will matter.

Foles isn't even better than Gardner friggin Minshew.

If the Bears trade Mitch and think they are winning with Foles...well I don't even know what to think of this team anymore.

Nagy was one of the voices in the room in Philly when Foles was drafted. He's liked him for a while.

John DeFilippo was his QB coach when the dude won Super Bowl MVP.

For a QB2, and again depending upon cost, this is a nice move.

Foles is the stop gap until they take one with their first round pick next year. Will only see the field when (not if) Trubisky shits himself again, there will be a competition the media will drum up that will not really exist. A large part of Foles' contract was guaranteed early, the yearly hits are $20M for 21 and 22 with no dead money, so you can move on from him after this year with ease. Essentially two $20M yearly contracts in which he can be there in case the next rookie is not ready.

Sure, as a QB2. If he's starting, the Bears have conceded that it's time to rebuild in 2021.

I don't think either of our quarterbacks are the answer. I think Foles is clearly better than Trubisky, but that doesn't make him good.

I think we're in the quarterback markets again next year.

If this doesn’t work everyone is getting fired for sure.

Due to his fragility I don’t think there is any way you can move trubisky.

Yeah. This. If anyone can get the most out of Foles and Biscuits, it’s Defilippo. I still think Mitch is the starter, but they will yank him in the first four games if it’s same old shit.

Everyone seems to think that Foles is the annointed starter. Are we sure about that?

I agree with the last post above. Foles is definitely better than Daniel. It's all about the $$$. The thing is... Foles is an outstanding PERSON. He will roll with being a backup if needed. And he'll be prepared to play if needed. If your plan is that you want to give Biscuit every chance to start and succeed, this is a good of a personality outcome you could have hoped for. Now if we're completely cap strapped, then that's a problem. But we need to see what Jax is doing to mitigate the $$$ factor for us.

I'll repeat what I've said before.... Pace didn't like his QB situation before so he signed a FA and used a high draft pick on another.

He is going to repeat that again - he has like 2 years, and he needs to throw everything he has against the wall.

I totally expect him to pick a QB in the 2nd round.

I like this move. I'm encouraged because of Foles' connection and success with Flip. It's a great hedge. But neither Foles or 10 are sure things, and if we understand Pace has self-preservation foremost in his mind, he's going to pick a QB.

I'm very curious if the offense is basically the same train wreck next year, which is a very realistic possibility, if Pace and Nagy get another shot.

This feels like Glennon 2.0 to me. :frustrated:

I'm not SURE, but giving up a 4th kind of says a lot about what Pace feels, IMO.

IF they can restructure or the Jags take a hit on the $$$ I like it. I think it leaves Trubisky the starter with a veteran mentor familiar with the system. And the only time Foles has ever been good is in this system. Beats Tyler Bray which is what I was anticipating as backup. If the money remains the same as his deal is now or Trubisky is cut for this then I hate the move

We can nitpick and love or hate the deal all we want... but can't we all agree that it will be nice to have a Bear QB out there who doesn't look super-nervous and lost?

I think we'll have to see what the restructures look like. Saw at least one report that the Bears pick up 3/50, which is only the base salary amounts and would be 15.125 / 14.875 / 20. There were some roster bonuses and workout bonuses that would be dead hits if Jax isn't restructuring before the deal to pick up.

Think they’ll try and move Trubisky and draft Foles backup in the 2nd rd (JalenH) or package the two 2nd rds (Pace love to do)to move up an grab a qb in the 1st if one drops.
