Yea me too...experienced player at our last remaining position of need, 1yr deal likely not very expensive given our cap situation, 29 years old. What's not to like? Is there a better option out there I'm missing?
What I like about it is that his better skill sets are In The Box allowing Eddie to play more CF than he did last year. Clinton-Dix's skill set was closer to Eddie's and he played deep more than he should have.
Holy shit you new guys get sidetracked easily. You sure know how to derail a thread.
As far as Gipson goes... good signing if he's healthy. Low risk either way. The room is getting pretty crowded though. I'll be interested to see how it all shakes out.
I would not say the safety room is crowded, you really only have Jackson, Gipson, and Bush. The rest are more known for special teams and only play S in a pinch. S will be just as big of a need next off season as it was a month ago as Jackson will be the only one with a contract.

Agreed. Its basically a one year stop gap like Dix was. But with lack of picks expected a couple positions to be addressed that way last two years.
I thought this was a really interesting nugget on Gipson:
Jacob Infante via Twitter wrote:#Bears safeties Eddie Jackson and Tashaun Gipson were two o of the league's most efficient safeties in coverage in 2019.
Jackson: 57.6 passer rating against (6th among safeties), 53.5% comp % allowed (5th)
Gipson: 55.0 passer rating against (5th), 54.1 comp % allowed (6th)
