So I think by opting out he get $350K if a high risk guy and $150 if he isn't.

Seems to me that many "bubble guys" will start deciding to opt out. Take Lucas for example. He was likely sitting in third place behind Gibson and Bush. He was likely going to be sent to the wood chipper not going to make that amount of coin. Seems like other guys may see the writing on the wall and follow suit. :frustrated:

Honestly, I can't blame anyone who does.

Forget the mortality rate, as we're starting to see data on survivors, there's a high incidence of heart damage, hypertension, lung damage, persistent shortness of breath, reduced lung capacity, etc.

Any one of those things could end an athletes career.
2023 Preseason Downside prediction:
5-6 wins, never really healthy all season, a constant shuffling.
We're potentially in a position to draft in the Top 5 again, depending on the Carolina team, and probably have a low-teens (or better) pick ourselves.

I think Lucas was competing with DHC and McManis. He wasn't really a legitimate candidate at DB. He was there as a special teams guy.
