It's a ploy IMO. They aren't going to move him, he's just being a wanker about his contract and they aren't the type of team that'll put up with that, so they probably are trying to move him for a big return to put a scare into him but they won't get it. He'll be a Saint.

When you look at what he's making, $2,376,193, he's only the 3rd highest paid RB on the team. Latavious Murray is getting paid more. Ty Montgomery is getting paid more.
He should absolutely use whatever leverage he can to get paid.

2023 Preseason Downside prediction:
5-6 wins, never really healthy all season, a constant shuffling.
We're potentially in a position to draft in the Top 5 again, depending on the Carolina team, and probably have a low-teens (or better) pick ourselves.

We have the cap this year to fulfill his wish of giving him some guaranteed cash. How much of an upgrade is he over Montgomery and does that justify what he'd cost to pry him away from New Orleans and pay him 8-10 mil for a likely 1 year rental?
I will kill you if you cut me at the knees. You will drink with me when invited and stay til I say so. We only listen to American Music. I make men nervous with just my presence. I expect an apology if you hold. I throw linemen at QB's. Believe the Lore!

You mean the take with the67th pick in the 2017 nfl draft? The guy taken with one of the picks we handed to the 49ers to move up one spot.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the next move we need to make is an upgrade to our offensive line. Badass running backs behind below average offensive lines do not perform well.

Tarik Cohen (as much as I love him) and a 3rd round pick. I'd happily do that.

I actually wouldn't, simply because of the forthcoming contract. I wouldn't sign him to the money he's reported to want (even though it's now being reported that he's NOT asking for McCaffery money, but close to it still). So if he were a FA right now and we didn't have to give up a pick or a player or both, I'd still pass simply because I wouldn't put that much cap space against the RB position.

Cohen is going to cost some decent $$$ next year too. I don't see this happening.

I'd love it. But yeah, Kamara would be too big of a cap hit IMO.

I'd be in on Fournette though...1 year cheap prove it deal, I see little risk there and we are paper thin at RB

This. Running back is the most easily replaced position in football. Even more so in an offense like ours that doesn't value the run gameWounded Bear wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2020 11:53 pm I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the next move we need to make is an upgrade to our offensive line. It's fun to think about, isn't it?
To me, "Win Now" means exactly that. There are so many short term situations on the Bears Offense I say let it rip right now. How much cash can they give Karmara? What happens to it if they don't give it to him?
