https://bearswire.usatoday.com/2021/01/ ... cap-space/

Looks like we have a bit over $7 million in roll over money and have about $10.5 million to work with.

Looking at guys who are FA I feel safe won't be back you have:

Trubisky - we are simply moving on

Patterson - don't have the cap room but I love the guy

RRH - will get an offer we can't match

O'Donnell - we will look to save money with a rookie I think

Harris - was he even here last year :frustrated:

Coward - or at least I hope they decide that experiment is over

Pineriro - Santos simply has secured the job

Spriggs - just never amounted to anything

Guys I think we will bring back

2 out of McMannis, Bush and Houston-Carson

Mingo - I think he gets a small raise and is back

Jenkins - as above

Gibson - I think the lower salary cap puts him in no man's land and he comes back rather cheap

McCullers , Urban, Holtz, VAughers, Woods - cheap depth player

Harris or Carter to take care of punts

Scaless

Bars, Joseph and Nall - ERFA so they get signed to a minimum deal and stay until / if they get replaced down the road in the off season.

I think C-pat will walk but I’m really interested to see his market value with the cap so tight and the way the nfl is trying phase out special teams ( or certainly returns )
Have a great day

What about Mustipher? Also, I really want to look at safeties in the draft..bring one in to battle it out with Bush. For the money, Bush is my guy next year at SS.

That article is definitely wrong. At 180M the Bears don't start at 10M of space pre-cuts. They'd still be in the red until they do cuts or other moves.

Now they could certainly create upwards of 50-60M, but that's another convo.

Are you including the rollover money? When I was looking at Spotrac last week that wasn't included because it wasn't known yet. That 7M helps either way though

Yes the rollover helps, but they should still be something like negative 5 with a 180 cap. Over the Cap who I generally trust more has negative 10 based on a 176M cap assumption.

But looking at Spotrac again they actually also show that negative 10 figure too. So I think the author of that article just messed up.

Anyways, both websites are close and the article is off in the 20M range. Also fails to mention that negative 10 is more like negative 13 once you fill out the minimum number of roster spots.
