Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Chris Lacy has found a new home. The free agent has signed with the NFC North rival Chicago Bears.

Lacy participated in Chicago’s rookie minicamp over the weekend on a tryout basis. He showed enough in the three day camp to earn a more secure future with the Bears, agreeing to sign with the team.

The 25-year-old Lacy played for the Lions in 2018 and 2019 after joining Detroit as an undrafted free agent from Oklahoma State. He caught three passes for 60 yards in eight games over those two seasons. The Lions cut Lacy last September in the final roster cutdown. He spent most of the 2020 season on the Dallas Cowboys practice squad but never played for the team.

I have no problem with this at all. Thrown as much shit against the wall to see what sticks. May find a diamond in the rough. Competition breeds excellence. Put as many WRS feet to the fire as you can.

Given that truly the only locks are Robinson and Mooney, it should be interesting.

In case they want 15 I bet Tanner Gentry could be acquired.

There's at least 3 Jesters on that list, even if only one admits it.

Meh on the schedule. That's based on last year. Then reality happens and some good teams struggle and some unexpected teams becomes really good (ahem... Bears).

He's a reasonable long shot acquisition, but it seems kind of excessive.

They can't even manage to evaluate what they already have, and there's 1 less preseason game (idiotic), and they're bringing 14 to camp?

Totally false but fun theory: They're going to let JF1 choose WRs 3-5. lol

It took me a while to figure out what you meant.

For a moment I thought they were going to let an asteroid select their receivers, and was intrigued as to how that would work.

Although, based on recent offensive personnel decisions at WR, OL, and HB, I might prefer astrology over Nagy (or whoever is responsible).

I like Michael Pinckney coming out of college and thought he was a good signing to help push the depth at that spot. But the wood chipper got him before he put on a uni.

The Bears have had 6 WRs on the roster going into their first game for the last 5 years. How do we conduct a poll where everybody gets 6 choices? I'm curious to see how well we can predict, at this moment, who of the 14 will eventually stick.

3003 combinations for 14 choices and 6 slots.

But if you consider 7 or 5 slots, then you jump up to 3003 + 3432 + 2002 = 8437 possibilities.

More realistically, if you assume Robinson and Mooney as the only locks that still gives you 495 options for 4 remaining spots.

You're talking about a normal poll where you get one choice, but have thousands of choices. Cool, I love scrolling, but I was wondering if there was a method, like for Water Reclamation District ballot, where you get to check off more than one choice because more than one person will be elected.

Maybe 4 polls: WR3, WR4, WR5, and WR6 with everyone on their honor not to vote for the same player in more than one poll?

I think that they still want to believe in Miller and Wims, but they are putting them on notice, and looking for their replacement at the same time to hedge their bets. We'll see what happens.

You can have polls with "select up to X options" and then just see what WRs get the most selections.

Somewhere the polls here lost the ability to show who voted how, though. They're all anonymous, which is unfortunate.

I'm pissed Wims is still part of the team ... how can that braindead no-hands jackass still be around?

I think Miller, Wims, and Ridley are all on the bubble.

I think they are on the bubble, but I also think that the Bears Org. believes that they have the talent to be quality NFL WR's. They're just tired of the bullshit. Time to bring a bunch of receivers in to compete, and see if they will cut the crap and become professionals.

Because when he decides to not be a moron, he's a quality receiver with a large catch radius. However after the shit that he pulled last year against the Saints, and cold cocking the DB, he should be given about a 3 inch leash.

I'm not gonna define him for that one horrific drop. Wims has flashed a little in limited playing time, and he's the only guy that can come close to playing ARob's role in this offense - no one else is a big body guy. And we don't have a whole lot else, I think I'd keep him.

Yeah, that drop was infuriating, but you could do a hell of a lot worse for a guy at the end of the roster.

WR1: Robinson backed up by Wims (who is also a core special team guy)

WR2: Mooney backed up by Goodwin or Newsome

WR3: Byrd back up by Miller or Newsome

Final roster cut will between Goodwin, Miller, or Newsome.

They may keep 7 and not keep 5 TE's this year. Think I'd rather hang on to Goodwin or Miller or Newsome over Holtz or Darion Clark.

I don't see how Ridley makes the team other than injury.

Any news on progress with ARob? Seems more and more like they are going to let him play on the Tag and walk next year. Cap is going up significantly next year, would love to sign him now.

Nada. I agree this would be a great time to sign him to a long term deal.

They are also going to be keeping a 3rd QB, that is where the extra offensive spot is going unless some team comes asking for Foles (less than 1% chance).

3 QB, 4 RB, 4 TE, 6 WR, 8 OL, 6 DL, 5 OLB, 4 ILB, 6 CB, 4 S, 3 specialists is how I imagine the roster breakdown. Maybe an extra ILB or S instead of 5 OLB, but I think Snowden will make the last roster spot on his potential (unless he gets the rookie IR redshirt).

The time for a long term deal will ALWAYS be before they play out the Tag. If you are going to sign him to a long term deal that is
