as I recall, the Bears are one of the teams to consistently accomplish this year after year ... and it is a good thing

one would think with the rookie salary cap that has been in place it shouldn't be a problem, but some teams seem to find a way to make it difficult

And they didn't cut any other players after Leno to get cap space. I don't remember reading about them restructuring any contracts either, hurting the cap in future years.

I'm not sure it matters. Back when it was Cliff Stein they were constantly the first to get the rookie pool signed. I think that's less the case now.

Roquan Smith was the only one I remember lingering into training camp though. That's definitely good to have it wrapped up before that.
