I've truly never seen a game where I thought the refs had less of a handle on their basic duties. They had about 3-4 terrible spots that gave a team a first down it didn't earn. They had this nonsense where they spot the ball horizontally in the wrong place. They have the debacle with ignoring Fields trying to ask about the clock (was that also mismanaged?) and then call a timeout. Wtf? It was terrible and that was even before you look at the actual difficult part of the job like judging holding and pass interference, etc.

I'd like to go back and watch, but I'm pretty sure that the refs were consistently starting the play clock slower for the Packers than for the Bears. It seemed like Rodgers had as much time as he wanted to go to the line and make adjustments, while we were rushed / getting delay of game calls in what seemed like seconds after the prior play ended.
Maybe just emotions from the game, but I wouldn't put it past them.

And here's another contentious call...
Johnson was called for a pass-interference penalty against Adams — a four-yard gain on third-and-four. The Bears turned that play into the league for review.
“I’d [like] to see what they say because a lot of times I just ask them, ‘What can I teach them different?’ ” Townsend said. “We’ll find out.”[

The most disappointing part is that it was against the Packers at home. The one game we get against them in Chicago each season. We had just won two games in a row and we felt mildly confident. And the referees just sucked the momentum out of stadium with 2-3 bad calls in the first 15 minutes of the game.crueltyabc wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 1:38 pm I've truly never seen a game where I thought the refs had less of a handle on their basic duties. Re-watched this game repeatedly, focusing on the offense.
I thought Fields had a solid fucking game. The "free play that wasn't", if our RT held his block for another 1.5 seconds, Fields could have stayed in the pocket and ripped a TD to Allen Robinson on a wide open post. The WRs also had pretty terrible drops which didn't help us to move the chains.
He's still a little slow/methodical on some of this throws, which in the NFL is the difference between a big play and a sack fumble, but I will add that his footwork and drops look much, much cleaner than his first start. Hope the kid keeps trending up and will be playing his best football after the bye.
