Really? Let's see it. Deshaun Watson was sacked 62 times his first year (momentarily ignoring his actual first year that was cut short by injury). Russell Wilson is a sack machine and has been since Day 1 in the league. People keep throwing this thought out there but come up empty when asked to back it up with data.
You understand I said “rookie” right.

If you’d go back ad read my previous post, you’d see the data.
It's just a super weak correlation argument based on a tiny sample set. Like, ignoring Russ because he had 33 sacks then proceeded to get sacked over 40 times a year for the next decade? Ignoring Deshaun who was pacing for those sack totals but got injured - then proceeded to get sacked 62 times the next year? Ignoring Luck because he retired later, huh? That's 4 that turned out just fine if you don't cherry pick the data, which was already inadequately tiny.

It pure conjecture on both sides here. It's conjecture to assume it will have a lasting affect on development and it's conjecture to assume it won't. Who are the 7 examples of fails, and were they actually a victim or do they just suck? We don't know. And the evidence is all over the place, there's just no actual data supporting either argument. That lengthy article posted really should have ended this conversation. These are just opinions, we all have em. 4 of 11 isn't much of a data view, and doesn't run counter to the standard bust rate for QB's anyways which is probably right around that number with or without the sacks.

We can all agree it's not ideal and want to see our blocking and situation improve for the kid. Whether or not it has some long term effect we will never know.

They have Pass Blocking Win Rates BTW

If your QB holds the ball til he gets Sacked - that isn't a great measureable of the OL

Ditto your OL gets absolutely destroyed but the QB either does a crazy avoid (Or more realistically) just throws it away - that it wasn't a sack doesn't mean good things about your OL either

Whispers - Bears are basically average in terms of Pass Block win Rate no where near the worst
