With Robinson out, this would be a perfect time to look at some of our untested WRs, like Perrim....
Never mind.

The Ravens' defense is only a shadow of its former self, but the Bears' defense is only the shadow of a shadow.

Nagy is winless coming off the bye. ARob is doubtful. As Middle astutely said first, their defense isn't what they used to be. But they're better than ours right now.

Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

Rain forecast for Sunday, but it should be over by the time the game starts. Steady wind could be increasing over the duration of the game. Extra wind causes more flags to fly out of the refs pockets, effectively killing scoring drives for both teams. Desai comes up with a genius game plan to cover the deficiencies in personnel, and Santos outduels Tucker and wins the windy battle.
Bears - 19
Ravens - 16
Not to put a damper on the good feelings, but Jackson did return to practice yesterday. Here's a nugget from the Ravens site:

The Ravens are 3-0 this season when Jackson has missed practice before a game, with wins over the Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers. It's the third time he's missed time because of illness this season.
San Francisco has always been my favorite booing city. I don't mean the people boo louder or longer, but there is a very special intimacy. Music, that's what it is to me. One time in Kezar Stadium they gave me a standing boo.

Um...why has he missed time due to illness 3 times already 10 weeks into the season??

Nagy's never won a game after a bye week (or indeed the second game after a bye week), so his record of maximising the opportunity to make adjustments and put his team back on track is as woeful as his offensive record. I can't see him changing that against a significantly superior coach like Harbaugh. The Bears are at home, Fields has shown signs of progress and the Ravens aren't great against the pass so I'll be optimistic and predict the Bears might manage to score 20 points again.

At first I was a bit distraught at the defensive injury moves this week. After all it looks like the offense may finally be uniting under Justin, and it'd be nice for the defense to come together so he can get a few wins under his belt.
Then I thought about it more and this D really needs to be built around Roquan, JJ & maybe Goldman if he can return to form. What better time to start than the present.
Here comes the youth movement on D we, or at least some, of us have been asking for. Let's get those growing pains out this year too.
Win or lose I'm more excited to see this game then almost any this season. Let's see JF1 and the offense continue to gel and the D start to find it's new identity! Bear down!!!

Lamar Jackson is only 50-50 for today's game. He has a respiratory illness which Harbaugh is saying is not Covid. The Baltimore backup, Tyler Huntley, has thrown 16 passes in the NFL. Which, of course, means he'll put up 400 yards against the Bears if he's pressed into service.
[Where are my old Chicago Bears and what have you done with them, Ryan Poles?

GAME DAY BITCHES!!!
Well Lamar Jackson has a 50% chance of playing today. Which means we have a 50% chance of having a chance. Of course most of our defense is injured or sucks, so there’s that. Hoping the kid has a day and leads the beloved to victory!

I have Lamar and Justin on my best fantasy team. I'm starting Justin. Because I'm a hopelessly delusional homer. LOL

31yo Mack's snaps will be split between 34yo Irvin (after 1-2 wks of acclimation, maybe), 29yo Marsh, and Gipson.
32yo Trevathan's snaps were small to begin with. 30yo Ogletree will probably absorb some, with a few scraps for Caleb or Iggy

So huge I'm going to do something I've never done before and change my prediction. I hope I don't live to regret it!
Bears: 20
Ravens: 16
Robinson, Hicks and Jackson are all out for the Bears, but a second year QB making his first start having only thrown 16 passes in his NFL career playing in Chicago... that's got to make the offense struggle even against a banged up Bears D surely? If the Bears don't win this one then the Bears shouldn't hesitate to fire Nagy tomorrow.

End of first quarter, no score.
Both teams seem to be struggling to find offensive rhythm. Fields had an outstanding pass to Mooney but has missed a few too. Hundley is a backup and is showing it. Bears seem to be waiting to pound the rock with Monty and Herbert.
Marsh getting a bunch of snaps at OLB. Curious to see how he holds up at the point of attack.

No one taking advantage of anything today. Another offensive (yes both meanings) performance for the ages today. I don't think it matters who is playing OC. This offense lacks an OL and explosive talent.
