Can't remember if I ever plugged it here but Schneider was always on my "sneaky list of experienced GMs who might not be able to be blocked by their team" list. Though things finally look shaky with Carroll. Schneider must be biding his time to become top dog.UOK wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 12:24 pm Per DBB, the Bears sent out feelers regarding this guy:

If the reports from that post are true, it's a pretty encouraging sign. They aren't thinking small. I'll just caution, it's bigger than one guy.
Ryan Pace was phase 1 of modernizing a rink dink franchise. The next guy is gonna finish and improve on the job.

Very smart guy. Built a powerhouse team but then through poor decisions, has allowed it to fall apart. Horrible on building OL. Picking guys way too high in the draft, especially in the 1st round. A more successful Pace.
Drafts are like snowflakes, no two are alike.

I'm skeptical. It's hard to know when Pete Carroll was meddling so maybe he's smarter than he looks based on their recent drafts and the Jamal Adams trade.

Not sure about this one. The Seahawks are struggling to compete at the highest level due to Wilson's contract but it looks like he's stated a soft reload which is good strategy. Looking at 2023 they're 9th in effective cap space but one of only two teams up there who have a good vet QB under contract (the other being the Texans who have Watson, Tunsil and nobody). Not that the Seahawks have many signed up then.
Drafting a question mark? Bit middle of the road for me, competent but not exciting. Only two wildcard wins in the playoffs since Wilson came off his rookie deal isn't inspiring.

"I wouldn't take him for a conditional 7th. His next contract will pay him more than he could possibly contribute.".

Well...
Schneider has only kept half of his R1 picks since being hired and used those to reach for guys like James Carpenter, Germain Ifedi, LJ Collier, Jordyn Brooks, and Rashaad Penny. Decent enough players, but all considered reaches at the time.
Having said that, he IS phenomenal in the mid-late rounds and has a knack for finding UDFA players that can come in and contribute.
Sound familiar?

Oh you know Pete has his hands over the important decisions though. Has to. He's the true top dog there.wab wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 2:06 pm Well...
