Well, he's the least likely to upset the applecart and send people packing.Several Bears players and coaches are hoping Kelly gets the job, sources added.
Which is a definite negative.
But he does have some positive, too.

I'd be happy if he was AGM and could provide some continuity with the scouting staff.
I'd be more skeptical if he was GM just because I do want new ideas.
Smith/Kelly would be awesome.

Really good article (but quick read) on Kelly here. He checks a lot of boxes.

Yeah … he’s a really good dude who checks a lot of boxes. He might not be right for the Bears as GM (I’m not sure maintaining connections to the Pace regime is the right move) but this man is definitely going to be a GM in this league. I wonder if the Bears think hiring him will negate their attempts to appear to be moderning. If so, Kelly's time with the team would be over, he'd be better off moving to another team unless they promote him to a higher player personnel position. This might be doable if they hire a GM who's more of a cap/contracts guy and needs someone to lean on for player scouting.
[Where are my old Chicago Bears and what have you done with them, Ryan Poles?
