OK, here we go. Its just about game time.
Unfortunately, I think whoever comes out of the Cubs/Nats series is going to be so battered and exhausted, the other NL team will roll right over them. This is going to be a brutal series.

True that. I'm honestly just hoping Cubs put up a fight. Murphy is a Cub-killer and their pitching is intimidating. I simply want Cubs to be proud of their moxie, even if they go down, go down swinging.

It depends on the health of Scherzer. If he is indeed injured. The Cubs have a good chance.G08 wrote:I'm exhausted already!

The professor was on his game tonight. Very Maddox-esque.

Boris you could out manage Dusty.Boris13c wrote:Maddon out managing Baker, no doubt about it
I am sorry, but Sherzur (sp) was dealing, gave up one damn hit!! I keep him in to pitch to the fake Babe anyday. Dusty cost them the game with that move IMO.

Scherzer was good to go for the 7th and wanted to stay in ... Dusty decided no even though he had only given up 1 hit
so ok, they go to their main 7th inning guy Kinsler since they acquired him right? nope .. Dusty the Dope goes with Sammy Solis (who had no business being on the post season roster) ... totally wasted Scherzer's work

Well, its down to game 5. At this point I would say that the Cubs don't deserve the series. Five errors in the last two games, and about a gagillion walks. Its been a pathetic performance. Strasburg has been everything that he was hyped about when he was drafted. Just filthy. Let's just hope that the Cubbies can get to Gio Gonzalez early and often.

that 8th inning was just weird .. good bad and really bad all rolled up in 1 inning ... after 2 outsBears Whiskey Nut wrote:Well, its down to game 5. I think Strasburg successfully answered all of his critics with those 7 innings ... if he can spot his fastball, that change-up he has just ties people into knots
as to Gio, he is definitely hittable and can be rattled ... if you get to him early, he can't / won't always recover

Yes. You are absolutely right. If the Cubs can get to Gio early, it will be a long night for the Nats. Hendricks has been absolutely dominant his last three post-season outings, which makes me thing, unfortunately, that he is due to struggle. I hope not.Boris13c wrote:that 8th inning was just weird .. good bad and really bad all rolled up in 1 inning ... after 2 outsBears Whiskey Nut wrote:Well, its down to game 5. Holy crap!!! That was one of the most stressful games I have ever watched. Our bullpen sucks.

I was thinking the same thing. If Turner got on, or if Wade fell apart, in the 9th, we were dead. The problem now is that Lackey has to start game 1 against LA, with a limited bullpen. We are going to lose the first two, and have to try and reset in between games 2 and 3.UOK wrote:This one's not gonna end well.

Cubs record in Lackey's last 15 starts - 12-3
He has lost 2x to Dodgers this season. First outing early in season. He gave up 4 hits, 3 walks and had 10 strikeouts. Gave up one earned run. Cubs shut out. Second outing (5/27), Cubs lost 5-0. He gave up all 5 runs on 6 hits.
He has a winning record on the road (8-6)
7-3 second half of the season
He has pitched in 3 WS so he knows pressure.
That's all I got. I love Lackey, he may not be the best option, but it wouldn't be hopeless if he started. If the Cubs score some runs any pitcher will have a chance.
