Maddon broke him. Theo was explicit in his directive. Do not throw him more than two days in a row. Maddon threw him three, and he was done. Morrow was fragile, but a tremendous talent. It was up to Joe to manage that correctly, and he couldn't. Due to his "circle of trust" he leaned too heavily on Morrow, and wrecked his elbow. I think with proper management, Morrow would still be pitching.

Looking at his career, he was a ticking bomb, especially after the way the dodgers used him in their postseason run just prior to the cubs signing him. His signing cost the cubs not only his dollars but the kimbrel contract as well.
Maybe Theo should have just paid Wade Davis.
