This is such a HUGE mistake.
Joe Espada or Joe Girardi should have gotten the job. I think this ensures that Theo Epstien will have his hands in day to day managerial decisions.

I don't know if it's a mistake, necessarily, but it's not exactly inspiring. Ross will be good short-term to help Lester and the locker room vibe, but long-term? You've been grooming him for this role now, so what happens when you fire him? Awkward.

Girardi butts heads with young players all the time. I can see why they didn't go that direction.
