Q: You hear any locker room rumblings about how players feel about the switch?

A: They forced the change

Fox has these leadership meetings with the captains of the team... sounds like they told him what their respective units were feeling in the locker room. I'm sure Glennon had no idea, though

I just read that. Do we think an old guard type of coach like Fox is really going to be forced to make a change by his players? I mean, I get it. I said he would lose the locker room if he marched the Neck back out there. But I didn't think coaches responded that way.

Fox is a players coach even if he is a hard ass. He respects his veteran leaders, and just by watching him on the sidelines you can tell he’s had enough of Glennon. I don’t think this was a tough decision.

I do, yeah. He said himself, the players usually know before the coaches when a change should be made. Based on what Prince Amukamara said and what Adam Jahns reported, Trubisky was taking it to the Bears first team defense at times while running the scout team.

Fox also said today on the Coaches' Show that Mitch had no snaps with the first team offense in preparing for Green Bay, which is why he didn't trot him out there.

Bar for the excitement, this is why I'm happiest that he's out there. The NFL needs to sort out a way of getting backups practice snaps but we're not there yet. The games I'm hopeful for, optimistic about just by virtue of being a fan. The practice snaps I fully expect to speed up Trubisky's development.

I hope this doesn't mean that Fox would have kept Glennon as the starter if it wasn't for the locker room.

NO!

The NFL should not do anything else to insert themselves in the practice habits of teams.

They already are partially ruining the game by limiting teams' ability to practice tackling.

It doesn't. Listen to Fox's post game press conference and you could tell he knew it was time.

The Bears wanted to give Glennon every opportunity in the world - both because they had signed him as a FA and he's a veteran they probably felt deserved a legit chance to right the ship, and because they wanted to sit Trubisky as long as possible.

Glennon's performance against GB had even John Fox realizing that they couldn't start him any more.
Holy Shit - We got Justin Fields!

In my former life I was known as FencikFanatic.

Oh, and if you were wondering - yes I'm real. And I'm fantastic.

I think you've missed the point. The reduction in practice time has led to backups getting no snaps during the season. Anyway, the NFL includes teams does it not?

You insinuated that the corporate body (NFL), needs to dictate to the individual teams that there needs to be "X" in each practice. I'm totally against that. That already occurs to some extent, but it has not helped the product on the field.

Oh I insinuated. I offer my unreserved apologies.

All the best, take care.

Should I have assumed what you wrote or what you meant? just curious. I tend to go by what you wrote and after re-reading it a couple times, you did say (corporate) NFL versus individual teams. Had you said "I wish the Bears and other teams would figure out..." But the insinuation of "the NFL doing something" is that the corporate body would dictate to the teams. I can only go by what you wrote.

So I in turn offer my sincere apologies for reading what you wrote,

All the best, take Care.
