The ending to last season might still be on the mind of many fans of the Bears, but the 2013 is really not too far off. Along with following specific teams, another enjoyable part of the NFL for millions of people is fantasy football. From a Chicago perspective, which players from your favorite team should be targeted?

Matt Forte

Since arriving in the league in 2008, Matt Forte has been one of the most reliable rushers in the NFL. However, injuries the past two seasons have started to make people think twice about taking him too early in the draft. Right now, he should be considered somewhere in the 10-15 range amongst running backs. A full, healthy season could see him finish high, but even diehard fans of the Bears have to understand the health risks.

Brandon Marshall

In most leagues, Forte will be taken ahead of Marshall overall, but that has more to do with the position they play. Among wide receivers, the former UCF star only looks up to Calvin Johnson. He is without question a top five wide receiver, and he could go as high as second. AJ Green and Dez Bryant are his main competitors for that second spot, but chances are most Chicago fans will lean Marshall’s way.

Martellus Bennett

Tight ends are being utilized more than ever, so expect Bennett’s name to be called at some point in your fantasy football draft. He is a fringe starter depending on league size, as he uses his athleticism to make plays look easy despite being 6’6”, 270 pounds. He’ll fall in the 10-15 range amongst tight ends, with high upside.

Jay Cutler

Much like Chicago fans, fantasy football owners have a love-hate relationship with Cutler. He is a guy who likely won’t get a start on a weekly basis, but he remains an intriguing option because he can have an outstanding performance out of nowhere that makes you think he has turned the corner.

New coach Marc Trestman is known for creating efficient passing offenses, but Cutler is not reliable enough to be taken as a #1 quarterback in fantasy. If you want to take him as a backup, go ahead. Just don’t waste a high pick on him.
