“I’ll be shocked if Hackenberg is not a first-round pick.” - Jon Gruden in ESPN Insider story, April 2016

AAAAND...HE’S GONE

The Raiders have cut him only a few days after trading for him. He’d be the second 2nd round QB to never play in a game since the merger, last happening in 1980.

Let us take a stroll down memory lane:

Christian Hackenberg to the Jets is the pick of the draft

Well, they actually lose nothing in the deal.

But it's still shocking Gruden changed his mind and ejected that fast.

He must be totally wrecked mentally.

did Christian Hackenburg's career ever really start?

I know he was on an NFL team under an NFL contract, but he didn't do much that I can recall

Always thought it was weird that he never got to play a snap on a team that was rebuilding.

His career is just over? I doubt it. He'll find his way back after a CFL season (rumored) or he'll get a camp contract.

Aren't/weren't the Patriots taking a look after Gruden sent him packing?

Gruden was quoted as saying the current (new to him) CBA was to blame. If the snaps and practices werent so limited, he could have gotten a better look at him.
