Earl.....we hardly knew ye. :(

Some of the younger guys must be showing some upside under HH.

Kind of surprised.... thought he was the 2nd best interior line back up behind Daniels. Most of the rosters predictions I have seen had him on the 53.

Yeah, I had him as almost certain.

Coward, Grasu, and Morgan are all feeling a little more hopeful this morning.

My suspicion is they go 8 and Coward benefits, although I really prefer 9 OL, especially when one is Long, who loses body parts faster than a leper colony.

Yeah. This is what I am guessing as well. Better for HH to mold them, than to try and correct issues a veteran may have.

I think this is directly related to how good Coward has looked (albeit against grocery baggers).

Indeed. I think Heistand was consulted about this decision and felt like Coward has the physical traits and ability to be a huge get for the Bears.

I'm surprised Sowell made the team over Watford, honestly.

Sowell went out with a leg injury didn't he? He was Leno's #2.

Must not be that severe or HH feels he's got another backup for LT.

If it was Coward vs Watford that should be a no brainer. Coward is showing some ability early on with little experience at OT and he's an ideal size for a RT.

I had no idea Coward was a DL in college. Why do you think he switched? Raw talent? A shortage of good OL in the NFL? I find that really interesting.

That's what I was thinking. Coward has been a surprise. Possible replacement for Massie next year?
Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

Go back to leather helmets, NFL.

I'd say that's the ultimate jackpot hope for Coward and the Bears, but man that's a tall order. Not that Massie's that great, but Coward's got a lot to prove.

I believe, should his trajectory continue, you put him in a battle against a veteran and/or rookie to see what he's made of, unless he's called to start this season and proves himself.

I thought I expressed my uncertainty with "Possible" and ending with a "?". But maybe that wasn't enough. Sure, the idea is a bit of a reach. No doubt about it. But I'm sure that's what everyone thought about Big Cat when he switched to the other side. So it's not like it's such a crazy idea that it's never been done before.

Coward has promise, but man he got smoked last week and almost got Chase Daniel killed.

I don't want him on the field this season if we can prevent it. Let the kid develop. He's got the size and length you like at RT, plus the kid plays with some nasty to him (I love that in a RT).

wasn't James Big Cat Williams a DL as well? his switch to the OL worked out pretty well for him and the Bears
