Bills need new stadium to stay "competitive" says Goodell
BATAVIA, N.Y. (WKBW) — Should the Buffalo Bills build a new stadium? NFL commissioner Roger Goodell thinks so.

While participating in the annual Jim Kelly Celebrity Golf Classic in Batavia Monday, Goodell suggested the Bills need a new stadium to, "make sure the franchise remains stable here (Western New York) and continues to remain competitive."

Goodell said fans expect a higher quality stadium now than they did a decade ago and that new stadiums are proving to have tremendous economic benefits across the league. "A stadium is going to maintain the kind of fan base that's going to keep the team competitive and allow us to be successful in that market and that's exactly why we're focusing on it here in this market as well as every other market."

But, Goodell added that taxpayers would likely cover some of the cost for a new stadium.

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz tweeted the following statement in regards to Goodell's comments.

I really don't think Goodell should be browbeating cities to build new staiums and incur taxpayer expenses in their communities

if the 32 mutli-billionaire owners wish to start a team pool to pay for stadiums they think need to be replaced, then they should do that ... otherwise they should stfu

Browbeating?

Seems like a stretch.

Browbeating is probably a stretch.
Extorting may not be, however.

But his job description is to make as much money as possible for the team owners.
