Wow. That pick is going to be worth something too with Roethlisberger out and for a safety? I'm glad the GM of my team doesn't do shit like that.

Your aging QB just went down with an elbow injury. Your season is functionally over. The Mike Tomlin era is most likely done. Chances are you will end up with a losing record.
So the GM thinks, "I know, I'll send our 2020 1st round, potentially high draft pick, that could be used on a new franchise QB, to Miami for a S."
Makes ZERO sense to me.

they have Mason Rudolph
I will kill you if you cut me at the knees. You will drink with me when invited and stay til I say so. We only listen to American Music. I make men nervous with just my presence. I expect an apology if you hold. I throw linemen at QB's. Believe the Lore!

I think Rudolph is talented enough so that Pittsburgh isn't as bad off as some are saying ... their gameplan will have to change some, and I see an emphasis on the running game
the trade for Fitpatrick makes sense then in that regard ... strengthen the defense to play lower scoring games so your now more conservative offense can ground and pound and do clock management

They traded a first round pick for a safety after their star QB went down for the season.
Eddie Jackson is either the best or one of the best safeties in football.
If Fitzpatrick is worth a first rounder, what is Eddie Jackson worth? Can we get a potential top 10 pick plus either a player or another pick out of it? Hey why not? What if we get somebody like the Raiders who can be duped? A first rounder and another first day pick.
(I'm not suggesting that we trade Eddie Jackson. I'm trying to make a point that this trade was nuts.)

I think Rudolph will make some stuff happen this season.
