At some point a team just needs to walk off the field when the calls or non calls get bad enough. Walk off the field and make a statement. A lot of people would cheer that. This shit has to stop.
Goodell needs to say and do something. The league is either rigged like the WWF or they need to get new refs in there.
Between the Jets v Cowboys game and now the Lions v Packers yesterday how can there be any credibility left?
Oh but I'm sure there will be some apology letter to the Lions as if that replaces a win.

The officiating is fucking awful across the board. They have went from not calling much to calling everything under the sun (except holding against Mack, which I can't figure out).
If the league was rigged, the Cowboys would have won.
It is funny, with the refs calling everything, when something ticky tack isn't called, players are bitching up a storm. Reminds of an NBA game. I just don't think they will ever find a happy medium.
AS for Packers v Lions, you can't beat the Pack kicking FGs. And Rodgers, he was fucking dropping dimes last night, the fucker.

Everyone said for too long that you can't let bad calls determine the outcome of the game, so this is now what people get - an extreme over-correction. Which is proving to have exactly the opposite effect it was intended to have.
Get the calls right has turned into call everything on everyone all the time.
But the issue is that bad calls are going to happen and they are going to impact the outcome of games on occasion. It sucks, but it's the nature of having humans involved. The NFL just needs better trained humans.

This has been coming to a boil for several years now. The NFL has screwed over their officials with insane amounts of rule changes/interpretations, emphasis, and impossible expectations due to the neutering and often embarrassing nature of instant replay.
The officials have, in turn, screwed over the NFL by being responsible for 8-12 game outcomes per team per season, not out of any sort of malice or nefarious money plot, but via inability to be robots. NFL referees are as human as the umpires that routinely screw up balls and strikes. The problem is that the NFL doesn't play 162 games to let those indiscretions diffuse over the course of a summer, nor do they have a minor league to test new systems, methodologies, and reforms.

Part of this year is being able to review calls/non-calls by replay. If I'm a ref, I'm calling things a lot closer too — who wants to be the one embarrassed by missing a key call when your decisions are now subject to replay review?

The refs get roasted after games for non-calls more than they do for bad calls. I just hate that the hive-mind national opinion is that we need more after play reviews.

Go to the 2:22 mark in this video. (This is the same one I posted in chat during the Vikings game.)
Somebody analyzed 1st down causing penalties occurring on 3rd down going back to 2010. When looking at all of the teams, the Packers are clearly getting the most favorable calls while also getting an extremely small amount of unfavorable calls.
Now the question is, why?

the officiating will not improve as long as waste-of-life Alberto Riveron is the person in charge of them

The Clowney play on Wentz was just freaking obvious as to his intent. It was not a tackle, it was not momentum. He freaking speared him from behind helmet to helmet. it was an inverted dive and yet the NFL just sticks to it guns and says it was called right.
It was dirty, it should have been an ejection and he shouldn't be playing this week either.
Sure he should. In fact he should double down and do something worse. Then get suspended next game.southdakbearfan wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 7:37 pmThe Clowney play on Wentz was just freaking obvious as to his intent. It was not a tackle, it was not momentum.
