288 yds rushing. Shanahan stuck with it because it worked. Mostaert is no Henry and they rode him all game long.

Wait, you mean sticking with a running game until the other team stops it is something you can do...?

Mind. Blown.

That one killed me. It was the end of a very tumultuous time in my life, and I was moving to a different state in a few days. It was like the last hurrah with the guys I grew up with, one of whom just died of cancer before the age of 40 this week. So yeah, that one hurt.

Better yet. Running with a FB still works. Imagine that. Power-I football is like a Toyota. Boring as hell, but it works from one generation to the next.

I think the main thing it shows, you have to have an above avg OL. The Bears OL, I would say slightly below avg. I love smash mouth football and these playoffs have shown it can be effective to a point.

Notice how much they ran out of the I form, I hope Nagy did.

somewhere in this forum is a thread where we were sort of laughing about the 49ers hiring John Lynch as GM

seems the joke's on us

Lynch was quoted as saying build the lines first, and the rest will follow ... old time solid thinking ... and the 49ers have way above average lines on both sides of the ball, so not only a good theory and plan, but also acquired the right people to make it work

solid line and effective running game ... worked from the days of the T formation and still works today if you're smart enough to not fall in love with gadgets

That was amazing. Thank you San Fran. I even liked how GB started scoring points because in a way I think its worse for the "shareholders" to have a sliver of hope (albeit a false hope) that they could come back.

Another great football weekend. The SB should be awesome.

Good for Mostert. I always remember him being pretty talented, but unable to hold onto the football.

That might be the most fun I've ever had watching a Packers game.

I was coming back from vacation and the first two quarters happened while I was in the air. Since I was heading to O'Hare airport, I overheard Packers fans occasionally discussing the prospects for winning. When we landed, everyone started getting their phone connections back but since I was trying to wrangle my overly-tired 3 year-old off the plane, I wasn't able to check mine. As we walked through the jetbridge to the terminal though, I heard a guy exclaim behind me that the score was 27-0. The way he worded it, I wasn't sure who was in the lead so I turned around and asked him and he beamed that it was the 49ers. I could tell he was a fellow Bears fan and gave him an "Oh yeah!" and we just laughed. It was just a cool feeling that even though we were complete strangers, you still felt like you had a connection based on your shared despisement of the Packers.
