I don't think we had a dedicated thread to Watson, so here it is.
Also I don't want this guy on the Bears next year.

Me either, but I have this weird feeling it's going to be the case.
He's everything Mariota was when Pace went googly for him, just shorter.

I've felt this way for a while now. If he wins a National Championship the narrative will write itself: athletic specimen that makes his teammates better by his leadership and he's a winner because he plays well in big games.wab wrote:Me either, but I have this weird feeling it's going to be the case.

Gag me.
I hate him #3 overall, I wouldn't mind him in a trade down from 3 or in a trade up from our second round pick.

I like Watson, but not with the 3rd overall pick
if he falls to the Bears in the second round, that would be nice ... 3rd even better
but my guess is someone is going to reach and overpay for him and it won't (better not) be the Bears

I swear I read somewhere that someone with "insider" info that execs have soured on Watson and he just might be available in round 2... but that could just be someone blowing a whole lotta smoke. But that said looking through the history at the position I have become very leery of early entrant QBs...

I've seen him throw beauties as well... but I dunno, I hope Pace doesn't fall for this "plays well in big games, he's a natural leader" crap. Yeah it's important but it's not everything.

He put up a stinker against Troy in their home opener as well.G08 wrote:Yup, those two are ugly.UOK wrote:

67%+ completion rating but 30 interceptions in his last two years! That scares the living hell out of me.

I've watched tape of 2 games of him. Here's what I see.
- Pretty good arm. But like Trubisky, tends to float longer balls.
- Excellent, efficient delivery.
- Pretty good feet, although he never does more than 3 step drops. Well coached in this area.
- Accuracy spotty. Throws some nice balls, but way too many that the other team gets hands on. Doesn't demonstrate good feel for throwing the ball where only his guy can get it. Occasionally throws and hopes.
- Mobility good, but both he and his coach think he's Michael Vick. He's not. Runs too much.
- Didn't see him throw the ball away.
- Pocket presence OK.
- Competition level... Top shelf.
Nice delivery, decent arm and good feet are fundamentals that won't need much work at the next level. I'm afraid that will entice a GM to overdraft him, ignoring that he throws too many balls into coverage, runs too much and doesn't throw balls away. That tells me that he may not be the best "think on his feet" kinda player. Checks some of the boxes, but not the most important ones. To me anyway.
He looks like a R2 guy to me. I can't imagine John Fox liking this guy's tape much. Too many turnovers. I don't see the intangibles in this player.

After hearing what Pace said in his press conference about how the QB play on the team was unacceptable with all the turnovers, I would imagine that would derail him from taking Watson at any point in the draft. But you just never know.

Deshaun Watson is Senior Bowl eligible since he is a graduate.
He HAS to go. Has to.

Why wouldn't he want to go. He makes a great first impression and the coaches for the game have the first and third picks.G08 wrote:Deshaun Watson is Senior Bowl eligible since he is a graduate.

Who will be coaching him, the Bears or the Browns? If it's Fox, he'll probably get injured.SC Bear wrote:Why wouldn't he want to go. He makes a great first impression and the coaches for the game have the first and third picks.G08 wrote:Deshaun Watson is Senior Bowl eligible since he is a graduate.

He said he will decide after the National Championship game... but he will be on the South team and be coached by the Browns.
Still... I'd have to think we could get a little bit of a look at him.

He's playing within himself, that frozen rope over the middle was a beaut.wab wrote:Hmmm. I like quite a bit.Funkster wrote:I don't like anything I'm seeing from Watson.
Still, this isn't the #3 player in this draft up to this point in the game. Then again... his team is only down 7 to freaking Alabama and they're getting the ball back to start the half.

I second that opinion. Just not feeling him as a top 5 draft pick.docc wrote:No Watson please...not at #3..

Watching the game right now. Nothing that Watson is doing is telling me he's a top 5 pick.

Watson did look very strong..
I think he goes early..
Depends on how Pace looks at this game..
Kid looked very good,,better than I thought.
In all aspects..
Got a feeling he is going early.
