NFL.com draft profile

Positive: Adam Shaheen has an enormous frame for a tight end. Powerfully built, well-proportioned frame. Accomplished high school hooper who brings the same footwork to the field. Has good sink into breaks and can make sharp cuts coming out. Has foot quickness for clever stutter-and-go double moves to uncover against linebackers. Above average speed and acceleration for his size. Moved all over the field. Was isolated for fade routes near endzone. Plus hand-eye coordination and shows ability to alter body positioning to improve catch-odds while ball-tracking.Trusted in pass protection. Sees twists and blitzes and responds to them. Needs work as run blocker but has desired frame of a Y-tight end.

Negative: Tape on Adam Shaheen can be deceiving because you are watching him completely dominate and overwhelm lesser competition in Division 2 football. Hi upper body is stiff and mechanical in his routes. Hasn’t learned how to utilize hands to free himself against press. Gets jammed up in his release and can be knocked off the timing of his patterns. Will need to learn to adjust in space in order to maneuver past traffic. In need of his fair share of technique work as a run blocker. Ducks head into initial contact. Finds himself lunging and chasing when asked to climb to second level.

Interesting...

Me, too. I'm making pizza for movie night, and my kids don't want to eat it off the walls.

Well, they probably do, but that's another story.

I have no idea about this kid whatsoever and was taking a nap when they took him. I'm guessing people would've preferred a defensive back or something, but I'm going to watch some highlights and see what's up.

I like it. Super early for Pace to go D-II, but I guess he's just full of surprises this weekend.

He is talented, I watched some you b tube things a while back. He destroyed a bunch of 5'11" dudes.

He does move well and a natural catcher

I love this pick. He needs some play experience for sure but by the time our new quarterback is ready to go they should be bread and butter.

Interesting, I was just thinking of how the Bears should bring in Gary Barnidge at TE after his release.

Also looking for the Bears to move down one more time to late second (wishful thinking).

The kid looks to be a beast and could help whoever is at QB in the future. hopefully he pans out.

I doubt Bears do anything else today. Got their 2018 4th rounder back and a few late picks here and there, so we'll see.

What's evident already is that the Bears secondary is going to be utter fucking garbage in 2017.

I think I like the pick. Seems like a reach but potential wise, he's on par with OJ. I was hoping for Dawkins but I'm not upset, although it did take me a minute to decide if I was or not.

I do need them to trade for Richardson or draft a DE at some point.

I like it because if Shaheen is just as beastly in the NFL as he showed in his highlights, he's going to be connected at the hip to Trubisky when both come to prominence.

Speaking of highlights, here is a Division 2 quality video of him shredding a bunch of smallish second-tier college athletes.

They call him Baby Gronk... he's a freak

6'6" 280 lbs, runs around a 4.8

I say drop him to 270 and he'll be a 4.7 flat guy with receiving skills. That's a fun player if you can teach him to block. Especially with Sims... are we going 2 TE base?

Big man, physically Gronk sized, probably not Gronk skills. I like the pick. Could be good for a 5-7 years.

I am in Tucson and watched Gronk every game..

This SOB looks like he :could be another "Gronkasuar"
Me Likey..

Gronk had great games against all teams and had some less than great in DII games layups in early season..
So what..Size..speed..attitude..
Let him play

He's definitely Gronk-lite. If we get an OT and a DE I'll be above board on this draft.

He may have been a reach, but the Broncos were high on him. So who knows. He may not have lasted that much longer.

I definitely wanted TE addressed, given the roster and the high quality in the draft.

He's intriguing with nice upside.

But I wonder if we couldn't have waited a decent while longer to get him (or Bucky or Butt)

Albright sez Denver wanted him. So hard to say.

That's about where I am. He's got a chance to be terrific, sure, but right now that gives us a fleet of TEs one of whom is a very good receiving prospect but none of whom can block, plus two raw QBs, a line that's getting shaky with injury and age and will likely get shakier when we lose our LT, and very little but question marks at WR. Add a terrific RB, and...that's still not a promising offense. But it'll need to be, because as things stand teams are going to throw all over our defense.

I get that Pace wanted his matchup nightmare after taking an average talent in the first. And I hope he got him. I just don't think that a receiving mismatch at TE offsets our bigger problems. And I'm pretty disappointed that we haven't done more to address those.

I like the pick. I love TE's. Especially the big, mean, nasty type that can run and catch. That kid was a man among boys in D-II. I think with some NFL nutrition and strength conditioning, that kid could be a monster. He's got the frame, feet and hands. So many time people say that a player just needs to put on 20 lbs. Some frames can handle weight and muscle, some can't. This kid's frame looks like he could get stacked, and handle it just fine.

I'm looking forward to seeing him in 2018.

could be worse, bengals putting together the all character team to insure their tradition of first round playoff meltdowns stays intact.

The Broncos had him queued up as their next pick.

I like it... 12 personnel in the future? Works for our run game and having two TEs now that can get out in pass routes and hurt you. Also mitigates the loss of Jeffery.

I love it.
