The Bears are locked in at 8 and so are the 7 spots ahead of them.

Start with an early prediction of what those 7 preceding picks might look like and what might be there for the plundering at 8.

1 Cleveland
2 NY Giants
3 Indianapolis
4 Cleveland
5 Denver
6 NY Jets
7 Tampa Bay
8 Chicago

3-4 QBs seemed to be rated to go before Bears..
So a lot of choice..
WRs
Christian Kirk (prefer) or Calvin Ridley..at 8 pick for Bears,
We have a lot on IR that can justify us taking a WR as Trubisky needs a deep threat, Inman has been nice..White we have no idea,,

We are set at RBs,,O line can be nice when healthy..D line has done well even using backups..
WE need scoring and stretch..

A lot of it depends on who the HC of these teams ends up being. But here’s a guess.

1 Cleveland: Sam Darnold
2 NY Giants: Connor Williams
3 Indianapolis: Bradley Chubb
4 Cleveland: Saquan Barkley
5 Denver: Josh Allen
6 NY Jets: Josh Rosen
7 Tampa Bay: Mike McGlinchy
8 Chicago: Quinton Nelson

1) CLE
Has to be a QB. Rosen doesn’t want the job, which makes it easier to make this call.
QB Sam Darnold
2) NYG
Again, has to be a QB.
QB Josh Rosen
3) IND
This one is intriguing. Luck isn’t that old, so that’s not a problem. But what if his lingering shoulder problems are even worse than publicly known? That could really put a wrench in things. I may make a separate mock with that scenario. But let’s start with the most conventional choice. Gore is old, Barkley is special. OLB would make sense, too. OT is needed badly, but no one is rated this highly.
HB Saquon Barkley
4) CLE
With all their picks and their QB already landed, Cleveland can get creative here. Probably, they rape someone desperate to get ahead of Denver and the Jets for the remaining QB(s). But for a first version, I’ll stay simple again and suppose they stay.
DB Minkah Fitzpatrick
5) DEN
They’ve been flailing at QB for a while.
QB Lamar Jackson
6) NYJ
Really not sure here. Awful at QB. Do they reach? Chubb really shouldn’t still be here, though, and they need OLB, too.
OLB Bradley Chubb
7) TB
DE Arden Key

This ends in the Bear nightmare scenario.
OLBs they want gone.
Best trade bait gone.

If you trade, you have to seek buyers for McGlinchey or Josh Allen, neither of which should net you big offers. And if you pick – you fall off a giant cliff in quality from what went 1-7.

Right now, the only serious hope for the Bears I see would be if someone really likes Josh Allen and 4 QBs go, with the Jets taking one, too, leaving one of the edge rushers.

Crazy Scenario: Cleveland gets Alex Smith this off season

1. Cleveland: RB. Saquon Barkley (Elliott and Fournette allowed 2 teams to make a leap...Barkley makes it 3 for 3)
2. NY Giants: DE. Arden Key (this team was a wreck and pick can go many different ways...depends on FA)
3. #trade NY Jets: QB. Josh Rosen (he was hoping to go to NY!, just not this team in NY)
4. Cleveland: DE. Bradley Chubb (can't have enough pass rushers!)
5. Denver: QB. Lamar Jackson (Too bad that Lynch didn't work out...)
6. #trade Indianapolis: OT. Orlando Brown (Gotta protect Luck)
7. Tampa Bay: OT. Connor Williams (Gotta protect Winston)
8. Chicago: WR. Cortland Sutton (honestly don't like top 10 WR's but believe its likely)

A LOT can happen between now and the draft...fairly confident on rough positions, but names can change and I like that trade for the Jets!
I will kill you if you cut me at the knees. You will drink with me when invited and stay til I say so. We only listen to American Music. I make men nervous with just my presence. I expect an apology if you hold. I throw linemen at QB's. Believe the Lore!

If the Bears go WR with pick 8 I prefer Cortand Sutton over Christian Kirk. I know there are some good sub 6 foot WR in the league, Antonio Brown just one example. Still, I prefer big WRs in the end zone. Cortland Sutton fits that bill.

He's my favorite right now. I could live with Kirk but we could get someone with speed in later rounds for deep threat.

I would not throw things if we went Kirk either. I am interested what we will find out about these guys come the combine.

I could like Sutton..he will still be 22 at draft..

Height is great..speed can get you a couple yards separation so it equates..
Really don't like WRs in first..but we need it.. A lot..

I still think FA is the best option for a WR.

My knee jerk reaction would be to say didn’t we do that last off season. But in reality I think we need to get WRs in both the draft and free agency. We may not necessarily need to pick a WR with the number 8, but should not wait past the 2nd round.

The FA list at WR isn't great unless someone gets cut in a salary dump.

I could see Pryor, Watkins, Inman, Wright and Floyd being potential targets. None are a #1 by far and most likely a #2-4

Terrelle Pryor
Mike Wallace
Sammy Watkins
Eric Decker
Harry Douglas
Taylor Gabriel
Dontrelle Inman
Kamar Aiken
Kendall Wright
Jaron Brown
Andre Roberts
Matthew Slater
Albert Wilson
Danny Amendola
Charles Johnson
Michael Floyd
Marqise Lee
Jordan Matthews
Michael Campanaro
Paul Richardson
Brice Butler
Brandon Tate
Eric Weems
Cody Latimer
Louis Murphy
Allen Robinson
Jarvis Landry
Brian Quick
Justin Hunter
Josh Bellamy
Deonte Thompson
Donte Moncrief
John Brown
Brenton Bersin
De'Anthony Thomas
Nick Williams
Brittan Golden
Tavarres King
Ryan Grant
Jeff Janis
Kaelin Clay

Harold Landry is an underrated prospect IMO. He fits a 34 OLB Edge Rusher and no one seems to talk about him. Watch some of his tape.

Without checking that type of smaller, quicker rusher, has a few success that spring to mind, von Miller, Beasley etc. From a glance Landry looks like he could fit that mold. Um, I'd take that!
"I wouldn't take him for a conditional 7th. His next contract will pay him more than he could possibly contribute.".

Noted Brain Genius Malk, Summer 2018.

Michael Floyd, who was cut after getting a DUI.... I can't see the McCaskey's being okay with that at all...

I'd kick the tires on:

Watkins, Matthews, Robinson, Moncrief, John Brown

I'd throw Paul Richardson and Brice Butler out there too. And maybe I'm reading too much into one game, but Kaelin Clay has that "he could break out on the right team" look.

If a true #1 receiver wasn't a priority before it is now that Nagy is the HC.

They have the cap room to land one and a very competent second.

If the Bears' top draft pick isn't an offensive tackle, I'll give everyone here a nickel.

I heard them saying similar on the radio.

What indicates that he's such an OT guy?

I am, too, but I don't want to see a big reach in a draft where there probably aren't any elite ones.

Trading down from 8 for #21 and #22 sounds kind of appealing...

The Chiefs #1 WR was a TE and they managed to make it work pretty well.

We need somebody to take the top off the defense in that situation.

Nelson looks like an awesome awesome guard and would be a great replacement for Sitton but I haven't seen good tape of him working out in space against a speed guy. Nagy likes to run 401 packages so the OT's are out on their own... you're confident he can do it?

I think he’s a guard in Nagy’s offense. But yeah, I think he can.

Are there any UFAs that we think can upgrade Bobbie Massie and allow us to use the #8 pick elsewhere?

Nate Solder might be available. Not sure if we’d be interested in him.
