Figured we could start massing up our Mock Drafts using the Fanspeak Simulator (https://fanspeak.com/ontheclock/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and post results here. For this one I used:

- Draft Board: Bleacher Report - Matt Miller
- Team Needs: Fanspeak
- Difficulty Level: Difficult

87: R3P23
OT BOBBY EVANS
OKLAHOMA

126: R4P24
WR LIL'JORDAN HUMPHREY
TEXAS

163: R5P24
RB BRUCE ANDERSON
NDSU

227: R7P11
QB CLAYTON THORSON
NORTHWESTERN

240: R7P24
CB JUSTIN LAYNE
MICHIGAN STATE

It's hard to build with 3 mid picks and 2 late.

This is what I managed.

87: R3P23
WR DARIUS SLAYTON
AUBURN

More speed threat. Replaces White now and Gabriel in 1-2 yrs?

126: R4P24
RT/G
KALEB MCGARY
WASHINGTON

Flexibility and starting potential

163: R5P24
HB BRYCE LOVE
STANFORD

Stretching believability here

227: R7P11
NB COEY BALLENTINE
WASHBURN

240: R7P24
SS JOJO MCINTOSH
WASHINGTON

If Evans somehow made it to #87, I'd be all over that.

87: R3P23 G NATE HERBIG STANFORD
Doubt if he makes it to us but he is a stud.

126: R4P24 EDGE PORTER GUSTIN USC
Very risky pick due to injuries. But he had ten sacks in ten games. If he can stay healthy look the hell out.

163: R5P24 OT OLI UDOH ELON
Like I said my number one guy and in a year he will be pushing Massey.

227: R7P11 CB JAMAL PETERS MISSISSIPPI STATE
Surprised he was still here. So I jumped.

240: R7P24 RB BRYCE LOVE STANFORD
If he lasts this long then why not. If healthy he could be a number one back.

Bout the same as before
Miller

87: R3P23
G/RT KALEB MCGARY
WASHINGTON

Immediate depth at worst. Could replace Long now or Massie in a few

126: R4P24
NB DARNELL SAVAGE, JR.
MARYLAND

Replaces Callahan cheaply in 0-2 yrs.

162: R5P24
S MARVELL TELL III
USC

Depth at both S positions, especially crucial if Amos leaves

222: R7P8
RB BRYCE LOVE
STANFORD

PUP/IR him for 2019, while you squeeze the last out of Howard, then turn him loose in 2020.

238: R7P24
K COLE TRACY
LSU

Stats about rookie kickers notwithstanding, Bears have a dire need and he's too good to be around this late.

Draft Board: Bleacher Report - Matt Miller
Team Needs: Fanspeak
Difficulty Level: Difficult

87: R3P23
RB DARRELL HENDERSON
MEMPHIS
- Big play ability and the heir to Howard, seems to be a natural receiver out of the backfield. Not McCaffery or Kamara, but good hands.

126: R4P24
CB MICHAEL JACKSON
MIAMI
- Callahan gets a replacement here, I like the Idea of Fuller/Toliver/Jackson in 2020.

162: R5P24
CB JUSTIN LAYNE
MICHIGAN STATE
- I put him to work as a boundary CB reserve, but he battles Bush for the starting S spot opposite of Jackson. I prefer two guys who are major threats in coverage with our passrush. He is a physical guy and a converted WR so he could match up in man vs TEs as well, plus Pagano has used dime formations more than most, so even if Bush wins he would have playing time.

222: R7P8
RB BRYCE LOVE
STANFORD
- High reward/ no risk pick. Love is talented but injury concerns. A 2nd round talent in the 7th? lol. Piss off Mizzell. lol

238: R7P24
QB EASTON STICK
NDSU
- I like Stick as a developmental QB. This is the last year I want to pay a crappy reserve $6 mil to hold a clipboard. Stick is the reserve that will do well in our system.

Matt Miller
skipped 1-2 for unrealistic

87: R3P23
HB MIKE WEBER
OHIO STATE

Bears better be praying for Sanders or Weber to last, which isn't a great bet

126: R4P24
OC ELGTON JENKINS
MISSISSIPPI STATE

With virtually all the safeties still there, took a luxury pick, which restocks the depth and plans for Long's next breakage.

162: R5P24
TE ALIZE MACK
NOTRE DAME

Right after 126, a wild run on S wiped them all out.
Roster spot open and Shaheen has done nothing so far

222: R7P8
K COLE TRACY
LSU

Pricey vets haven't worked, so we're going to try unemployed nobodies? No thanks.

238: R7P24
S/NB DARIUS WEST
KENTUCKY

Here are the results of my draft:

87: R3P23
RB DAMIEN HARRIS
ALABAMA

Lots of RBs were on the board at this point in the draft. This guy does everything well.

126: R4P24
S JOHNATHAN ABRAM
MISSISSIPPI STATE

This was the pick that I was the most excited about. Abram graded as the #1 safety on the board per Walter Football. He causes turnovers and is a good tackler.

162: R5P24
DL GREG GAINES
WASHINGTON

I started looking for BPA at this point. Gaines could be a replacement for Bullard and help out in goal line situations.

222: R7P8
LB T.J. EDWARDS
WISCONSIN

Went with BPA who I felt could help out on special teams.

238: R7P24
RB ELIJAH HOLYFIELD
GEORGIA

I think his 40 time at the combine makes him drafted much later if at all where he would be a UDFA. He put up some serious numbers last year with Georgia so I think either he had a bad day at the combine or he just runs smart. This is a guy who we could give the ball to on 3rd and 1 and get 10 or 12 yards. In the 7th round this pick could be the steal of the draft for us.

Used The Draft Network this time. Doubled up on RB as I felt Love was too good to pass up with the last pick in the 7th round. Doubt Sanders would be available in the real draft, but couldn't pass him up at 87.

R3-87 Miles Sanders RB Penn State
R4-126 Bobby Evans OT Oklahoma
R5-162 Sheldrick Redwine S Miami
R7-222 Kendall Sheffield CB Ohio State
R7-238 Bryce Love RB Stanford

I'd be beside myself with joy if this happened.

Draft Network again - based on the board, didn't feel like any RB's were worth taking in R3 or R4. I took Anderson in R5 and am praying his injury history is behind him with the new Bears training staff to get his body prepared. When healthy he's also a R1-R2 talent. Excellent receiver out of the backfield and has the juice to take it to the house from both the running game and passing game.

R3-87. Amani Hooker S, Iowa
R4-126. Bobby Evans OT, Oklahoma
R5-162. Rodney Anderson RB, Oklahoma
R7-222. Austin Bryant EDGE, Clemson
R7-238. Jimmy Moreland CB, James Madison

I don't know that I love the idea of the Bears taking an injury risk at a position where they need a rookie to take meaningful snaps, but other than that, I don't hate that draft.

IDK how likely this is, but this would be a solid draft for the Bears...

87: R3P23
RB MILES SANDERS
PENN ST.

126: R4P24
S CHAUNCEY GARDNER-JOHNSON
FLORIDA

162: R5P24
G BEN POWERS
OKLAHOMA

222: R7P8
K COLE TRACY
L.S.U.

238: R7P24
QB TARYN CHRISTION
SOUTH DAKOTA ST.

I can dig that for sure. However, more than likely, I feel like the RB's the Bears are targeting are not going to be available (i.e. Sanders, Henderson) and the RB's that'll be left won't be worth the 87th pick, therefore I expect them to address either CB, S or TE with their first pick and take a RB later, like R4 or R5.

I have all kinds of doubts they're going to spend anything more than a Day 3 pick on RB.

Here's what I got this morning, using CBS Sports aggregate (no Draft Network board listed, alas).

87: R3P23
S AMANI HOOKER
IOWA

126: R4P24
OT TREY PIPKINS
SIOUX FALLS

162: R5P24
CB MICHAEL JACKSON
MIAMI (FLA.)

222: R7P8
RB ALEXANDER MATTISON
BOISE ST.

238: R7P24
G RYAN BATES
PENN ST.

I want to like Mattison, he's a really well rounded back, but he only had nine carries of 15 or more yards last season and that concerns me. He was better in 2017 though.

Just had a great draft for falling talent...(could have taken Conner McGovern in the 3rd if you prefer him over McCoy):
87: R3P23
C ERIK MCCOY
TEXAS A&M
126: R4P24
RB MILES SANDERS
PENN ST.
162: R5P24
WR DARIUS SLAYTON
AUBURN
222: R7P8
S SHELDRICK REDWINE
MIAMI (FLA.)
238: R7P24
EDGE JUSTIN HOLLINS
OREGON

87: R3P23
WR DAVID SILLS V WVU

126: R4P24
EDGE PORTER GUSTIN USC

162: R5P24
OT OLI UDOH ELON

222: R7P8

Why would you spend a 3rd on a WR when the team is ostensibly deep at the position already?

R3-87 Miles Sanders RB Penn State
R4-126 Amani Hooker S Iowa
R5-162 Josh Oliver TE San Jose State
R7-222 Malik Carney EDGE North Carolina
R7-238 Mitch Hyatt OT Clemson

Holy carp, I love this nearly every pick in this draft (I'm not even that high on Oliver, but as a 5th rounder he's good gamble).

I'm on the Mitch Hyatt bandwagon, FWIW.

Mitch Hyatt is going to be better than people are giving him credit for. His scouting report is similar to Leno... light, not big/strong enough but understand technique and how to play the position. Football IQ is high. He'd be a steal in R7.
