WAB's Half Ass 7 Round NFL Mock Draft

Admittedly with the Bears not picking until the third round, I haven't put much effort into mock drafts this year (you may have noticed, and you probably didn't care).

Still, I couldn't NOT do one. So here it is... enjoy. Or don't.

1. Arizona : Kyler Murray QB Oklahoma
I don’t think this is a surprise any longer. As far as Rosen is concerned, for the purposes of this mock draft, he goes to Washington for a 2nd and 3rd and a 2nd next year.

2. San Francisco : Quinnen Williams DL Alabama
The Niners have invested a lot in their DE’s recently, so they should look to Williams to strengthen the interior. He’s also arguably the best player in the draft.

3. NY Jets : Josh Allen EDGE Kentucky
Allen over Bosa? Honestly this is simply a question of fit. Allen is better suited for the hybrid role he’d play in the Jets defense. I could see them trading out of this pick though.

4. Oakland : Nick Bosa EDGE Ohio St.
It’s not out of the realm of possibility that Bosa is available for the Raiders at #4. After losing Mack, this would be an ideal scenario for them.

5. Tampa Bay : Montez Sweat EDGE Miss. State
The run on edge defenders continues. Sweat was diagnosed with a heart condition, but it’s apparently nothing serious. I think this is a bit of a reach, but he’d fit the Bucs new defense like a glove.

6. NY Giants : Daniel Jones QB Duke
They didn’t just trade away the only player that challenged Eli Manning’s authority to draft a QB that will challenge Eli Manning’s authority. Having said that, Manning and Jones are close personally and Jones has voiced his desire to continue to be mentored by Manning in the NFL, so this is a relationship that could work well. His stock is also on the rise.

7. Jacksonville : Jawaan Taylor OL Florida
It’s hard to pin down the Jags needs, but the OL was decimated last year and their new QB is a statue. This would allow Cam Robinson to slide over to RT where he might be more consistent.

8. Atlanta f/DET : Ed Oliver DL Houston
TRADE - Oliver is a bit of a wild card, but he’s one of my favorite players in the draft. His versatility is a match made in heaven for this defense.

9. Oakland f/BUF : Drew Lock QB Missouri
TRADE – No, it’s not Haskins. John Gruden has a tough time hiding his love for Lock’s athletic skills. He better pan out though, because they basically traded Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper for him. Carr gets traded after the season.

10. Denver : Devin White LB LSU
The middle is what makes Vic Fangio’s defense go, and White is the best LB in the draft. Don’t be surprised though if this pick is a bit unconventional and turns out to be a TE like Noah Fant.

11. Cincinnati : Rashan Gary DL Michigan
I wouldn’t be shocked if the Bengals take a QB or try to deal for Rosen and punt Andy Dalton to the Redskins for a 3rd rounder. As it stands, they could use a talent like Gary on their DL.

12. Green Bay : Josh Jacobs RB Alabama
The first “wait, what?” pick. This might be high, but they have got to get the running game right and Zach Taylor knows the running game takes pressure off of the QB. If they want to compete in the NFC North, they need to be more balanced and keep Rodgers healthy.

13. Miami : Dwayne Haskins QB Ohio St.
The Fins may be trying to actively tank, but if Haskins is here they can’t not take him.

14. Detroit f/ATL : Greedy Williams CB LSU
The Lions filled some holes in free agency, so it makes sense to find a guy to pair with Darius Slay. There’s a lot throwing going on in this division.

15. Washington : D.K. Metcalf WR Ole Miss
Washington will come out of this draft with a veteran QB, so why not get a big body who can move real fast to throw to.

16. Carolina : Andre Dillard OL Washington St.
This will be a tough decision for the Panthers. They desperately need a pass rusher, but they need a left tackle just as badly. Luckily the draft is deep at pass rusher.

17. NY Giants f/CLE : Brian Burns EDGE Florida St.
The Giants have exactly zero pass rushers. Burns fills a huge hole and is a great value here.

18. Minnesota : Jonah Williams OL Alabama
Williams is the best OL in the draft, but everyone has concerns about his size and arm length. Whatever, dude is a stud. He can play LG until they finally decide Riley Reiff isn’t any good sometime in November.

19. Tennessee : Noah Fant TE Iowa
Fant is arguably a top 10 pick, but it’s always a tough sell to pick a TE that high.

20. Pittsburgh : Devin Bush LB Michigan
I think they’d prefer to have Fant fall to them, and I’m a little concerned about Bush’s size in this defense, but he’s a leader and a fearless player that overcomes his 5’11 stature.

21. Seattle : Byron Murphy CB Washington
The Legion of Boom is no more, so it’s time to rebuild.

22. Baltimore : Clelin Ferrell EDGE Clemson
The Ravens are almost forced to take a pass rusher here, and they’d be fortunate to find Clelin Ferrell still on the board.

23. Houston : Greg Little OL Ole Miss
Little was once considered a top tier prospect, and I don’t know why his stock has dipped. The Texans need someone to protect Watson and Little has the potential to be a 10yr starter.

24. Buffalo f/OAK (CHI) : T.J. Hockenson TE Iowa
Buffalo moves out of the top 10 and gets a top target for Josh Allen.
25. Philadelphia : Cody Ford OL Oklahoma
Ford is very similar to Jason Peters and the left side of the line is in flux. Ford will be a big help either at guard or tackle.

26. Indianapolis : Christian Wilkins DL Clemson
In any other draft, Wilkins is a top 15 pick.

27. Buffalo f/OAK (DAL) : Deandre Baker CB Georgia
On the surface it may not seem like they need a DB, but Baker is an absolute steal here. He’s tailor made for the slot.

28. LA Chargers : Jeffery Simmons DL Miss. State
Simmons talent is undeniable, but his red flags and injury will drop him. He’s a great fit and value here though.

29. Kansas City : Dalton Risner OL Kansas St.
Risner is incredibly versatile and fits the physical mold of KC offensive linemen. He can play anywhere on the line but would ostensibly replace Mitch Morse at center. With the 1st round pass rushing talent gone, this would be the perfect pick.

30. Green Bay f/NO : Marquise Brown WR Oklahoma
Brown is a direct replacement for Randall Cobb and adds some much needed speed to the WR corps.

31. LA Rams : Dexter Lawrence DL Clemson
Lawrence is an animal. Not since Haloti Ngata have I seen a man this size move this well. Again, in any other draft, he’s long gone.

32. New England : Parris Campbell WR Ohio St.
Who knows what they are going to do. All I know is that they valued Cordarrelle Patterson and Campbell has a similar skill set. He can actually play WR too.

Yes, Tre Burton had a career year, but it still wasn’t great. The Bears can also get out of his contract pretty easily after the season. Adam Shaheen was a 2nd round pick, but he was drafted for a different offense and hasn’t exactly been productive when healthy. Pace hasn’t hesitated in quickly correcting mistakes, and the TE position has been just that. Oliver was originally recruited to play a rush end/linebacker, so he’s still pretty new to the position. His athletic ability is off the charts and he seems to check all the boxes that Pace looks for in a player.

Miles Sanders is who I’d prefer, but he went to the Raiders in R2. I’ve been talking about Williams for a couple months now and how good of a fit he is in the Bears offense, which is nearly identical to the A&M offense. Some people say he may be a bit on the undersized side, but at 5’9 and 210lbs, he’s big enough for an NFL RB. He’s a tough runner with speed and agility. His leadership and football character is off the charts.

I like this dude. He can play corner or safety, which is exactly what Pace looks for in his DBs. He’s still a bit of a project though, which is why he’s available in the 5th round. He’s an aggressive, versatile DB who lacks some consistency in coverage, but possesses good ball skills and is more than willing in run support. He’d be an immediate special teams contributor at the bare minimum.

I really wanted an offensive lineman before the 7th round, but it just didn’t fall that way. Burkett is one of the better moving linemen in the draft and is especially good at getting into the second level. He’s not very powerful though, so that limits him. He’s got some scheme versatility though and can play guard or center. He’s not the small school project that Pace leans towards in the later rounds, but he’s a reasonable pick at this point in the draft.

Mitch is obviously the present and the future of the team, but taking a player that brings this kind of excitement to groom is a no brainer.

I've been watching RB tape over the last week and agree that Trayveon looks like he could be a good fit. I didn't look for anyone's comments first, so I didn't see yours before I drew a similar conclusion.
