Anyone think corner might be a target in round 2?

*looks at roster*

Outside of Fuller and Skrine, we have:

Artie Burns (can be released for 887k)

Kevin Tolliver II (can be released for 5k)

Duke Shelley (can be released for 95k)

Xavier Crawford (can be released for 21k)

Tre Roberson (can be released for 215k)

Michael Joseph (can be released for 12.5k)

Stephen Denmark (can be released for free)

I could very easily see us go for a stud corner to pair with our elite pass rush. That would make some combination of Burns/Tolliver/Roberson depth.

I think it's very high on the list of positional weakness

My tentative 'plan' is OL in R2 and trade down with the other R2. But CB R2/3/4 wouldn't surprise me. Although, from casual examination, I've always gotten the impression that CB usually has a sharp dropoff after R2.

I don't know. I'm a fan of Toliver - I've not made that a secret. And at some point you have to see what these dudes have.

But at the same time, it's a really good draft for corners to be had in R2.

I think if there is a stud there in R2 you almost have to take him... let them compete and really the kid can take over for Fuller in a couple years if needed. Especially with our front 7, I would love a quality corner on a cheap rookie deal for 4 years.

Yea, we could use one for sure. I'm with wab here on Tolliver, I really like him and think he'll be the guy. And for some reason I like the CFL guy, I have no idea why but I do lol...but we need to hedge on those guys and we have to keep a steady pipeline going there. Our money is invested long term in our front 7, so we need to have guys on rookie deals contributing at SS and CB2.

Naw. I love Tolliver as well. But needs at G, T and maybe C (moving Whitehair), speed WR, and SS scream at me. A TE to redshirt would be great too.

I will gladly live with Toliver. As others have said. Our pass rush will greatly help him to develop.
I'm gone. Have a nice life. I'm clearly not wanted here.

You have Fuller, Tolliver, and Roberson outside, then Skrine and Shelly at slot. Those is a pretty solid group of five. Then you still have Burns, Joseph, and Denmark fighting for one roster slot (maybe two). That is already a pretty crowded room. I really cannot see investing a 2nd on a CB with greater needs at safety and the offensive line.

The only way I'm ok with a CB in the 2nd given our current roster and needs is if whoever there is simply leaps and bounds BPA that it'd be irresponsible not to take him
2023 Preseason Downside prediction:
5-6 wins, never really healthy all season, a constant shuffling.
We're potentially in a position to draft in the Top 5 again, depending on the Carolina team, and probably have a low-teens (or better) pick ourselves.

That may happen at CB or WR, those are the best positions in this draft apparently. I just want Hurts, not as bad as I wanted Watson a few years back which just seemed like such a no brainer...but I see Russell Wilson in him.

Skrine and Fuller are both FA at the end of 2021 so this is a chance to add competition and be planning for long term.

Fuller just got one more year tacked onto his deal. It's a club option I think though.

He had extra years of caps hit tacked on. Deal length didn't change. They're basically phantom years to spread the cap hits.

Y'all really have a higher opinion of this group then this group has ever proven.

Toliver (a guy I like)
Udfa
2019 he essentially played in 4 games of significant time.

2018 he essentially played 3 games of significant time.

Important Career Stats.

2 games started, 0 int, 4 pass deflections, 29 tacles.

A lot of confidence in him from the board to be a starter.

It's actually two dummy years - Still up after 2021 - Restructure is most likely - Trade/Cut also options

And to answer the thread - Yes CB in the 2nd (or maybe 3rd after trade down) absolutely a strong possibility

Though having a second pass rusher should magically make all these guys look better
