Sorry gang - been a long couple weeks. I had planned getting this done last week, but the oldest has been in and out of the hospital (he's fine - it's not the virus - he has calcium deposits in his kidneys).
Anywho - here's 3 rounds with all the Bears picks.
1st Round
1 : Cincinnati Joe Burrow QB LSU
Pretty much a given, unless Miami wants to give up all three first round picks
2 : Washington Chase Young EDGE Ohio State
He's the best player in the draft. No need to over-complicate it.
3 : Carolina f/DET Isaiah Simmons LB Clemson
TRADE: Carolina needs a safety, a pass rusher, a corner, and a LB. Why not get one guy who can play all of those positions.
4 : NY Giants Andrew Thomas OT Georgia
For all the "hog molly" talk, Dave Gettleman rarely drafts OT's high. I think that changes this year. Thomas gets the nod because he's the highest rated true LT.
5 : Miami Justin Herbert QB Oregon
Like others, I think they pass on Tua. Herbert is big and talented.
6 : LA Chargers Jedrick Wills OT Alabama
IDK who needs to hear this - but they need OT's more than QB's right now.
7 : Detroit f/CAR Jeffrey Okudah CB Ohio State
TRADE: Detroit trades down and still gets their guy.
8 : Arizona Derrick Brown DL Auburn
If the Cards think they can avoid the injuries that have plagued them on the OL, they can pass on a RT and take the 2nd best player in the draft at #8.
9 : Jacksonville Tua Tagovailoa QB Alabama
The slide stops. Tua shouldn't have much trouble beating out Minshew whenever there's football again.
10 : Miami f/CLE Mekhi Becton OT Louisville
TRADE: Miami moves back up into the top 10 to take the massive Becton.
11 : NY Jets Tristan Wirfs OT Iowa
The Jets, by my estimation, don't have a single starting caliber offensive lineman. Wirfs can play any OL position.
12 : Atlanta f/LV C.J. Henderson CB Florida
TRADE: I think the worst kept secret is that Atlanta is going to try and move up for Henderson.
13 : San Francisco f/IND Jerry Jeudy WR Alabama
SF has their pick of WR's. Jeudy's burst and rount running prowess would make him an excellent fit.
14 : Tampa Bay D'Andre Swift RB Georgia
Their top needs are a #1 corner, a RT, and a back that can catch out of the backfield. Swift is the highest rated out of those three positions at #14.
15 : Denver Javon Kinlaw DL South Carolina
Yes, I know they need a WR (kinda). But have you looked at their DL? Ooof.
16 : Las Vegas f/ATL CeeDee Lamb WR Oklahoma
TRADE: A deep WR class is going to cause weird things to happen. Lamb being available at 16 after a trade down is one of those weird things.
17 : Dallas Xavier McKinney S Alabama
Dallas needs a corner and a safety. McKinney gives them options at both positions.
18 : Cleveland f/MIA Kenneth Murray LB Oklahoma
TRADE: I don't think they have a starting LB on the roster.
19 : Las Vegas f/CHI Trevon Diggs CB Alabama
Scouts are split on Diggs. I think in any other draft, he's a top 12 pick.
20 : Jacksonville f/LAR K'Lavon Chaisson EDGE LSU
Yannick Ngakoue won't be a Jaguar by the time the draft ends.
21 : Philadelphia Henry Ruggs III WR Alabama
This would be a dream scenario for Philly.
22 : Minnesota f/BUF Kristian Fulton CB LSU
They need a starting corner something fierce. There are other guys I like better than Fulton, but he fits well with what the Vikings do.
23 : New England Josh Jones OT Houston
No, they aren't going to take a QB. They do need some help on both the offensive and defensive lines. This would allow them to trade Joe Thuney and move Isaiah Wynn to guard.
24 : New Orleans Marlon Davidson DL Auburn
The Saints don't have a lot of holes, but a do-it-all defender like Davision makes sense.
25 : Minnesota Michael Pittman Jr. WR USC
Pittman has been slowly rising. He'd be a perfect replacement for Diggs.
26 : Miami f/HOU Jonathan Taylor RB Wisconsin
Miami just signed Jordan Howard, but he's no longer considered a full time back.
27 : Seattle Austin Jackson OT USC
Duane Brown is like 35 years old. At some point they have to find a replacement.
28 : Detroit f/BAL Jordan Love QB Utah State
TRADE: Detroit's season was kind of sunk with Stafford's injury. Love doesn't have to play right away.
29 : Dallas f/TEN Cesar Ruiz OL Michigan
TRADE: If Dallas wants a legitimate starting caliber player to fill in for Travis Fredrick, they are going to have to make a big jump.
30 : Green Bay Justin Jefferson WR LSU
Jefferson isn't a special athlete, but he's a smooth WR that catches everything.
31 : San Francisco John Simpson OL Clemson
This might seem like it's a reach, but Simpson is quietly being considered a top 40 pick.
32 : Kansas City Yetur Gross-Matos EDGE Penn State
Frank Clark will be thrilled.
2nd Round
33 : Cincinnati Patrick Queen LB LSU
34 : Indianapolis f/WASH A.J. Terrell CB Clemson
35 : Baltimore f/DET Zack Baun LB Wisconsin
36 : NY Giants A.J. Epenesa EDGE Iowa
37 : LA Chargers Jalen Hurts QB Oklahoma
38 : Baltimore f/DET (CAR) Denzel Mims WR Baylor
39 : Cleveland f/MIA Antoine Winfield Jr. S Minnesota
40 : Houston f/AZ Jeff Gladney CB TCU
41 : Cleveland Ezra Cleveland OT Boise State
42 : Jacksonville Jaylon Johnson CB Utah
43 : Chicago f/LV Grant Delpit S LSU
If Delpit falls, the Bears should be thrilled. He's exactly the type of player the Bears need so that Jackson can move to his more natural deep safety position.
44 : Indianapolis Tee Higgins WR Clemson
45 : Tampa Bay Isaiah Wilson OT Georgia
46 : Denver Lloyd Cushenberry III OL LSU
47 : Atlanta Joshua Uche EDGE Michigan
48 : NY Jets Jalen Reagor WR TCU
49 : Pittsburgh Terrell Lewis EDGE Alabama
50 : Denver f/CHI Laviska Shenault Jr. WR Colorado
TRADE: With Reagor, Wilson, and Cushenberry going right before the Bears pick, Denver moves up to nab the local product and fill their need for a versatile playmaking WR. Bears get #77, #90, and #178.
51 : Tennessee f/DAL Jordan Elliott DL Missouri
52 : LA Rams Malik Harrison LB Ohio State
53 : Philadelphia Ross Blacklock DL TCU
54 : Buffalo Curtis Weaver EDGE Boise State
55 : Baltimore f/NE J.K. Dobbins RB Ohio State
56 : Miami f/NO Brandon Aiyuk WR Arizona State
57 : LA Rams f/HOU Clyde Edwards-Helaire RB LSU
58 : Minnesota Justin Madubuike DL Texas A&M
59 : Seattle Julian Okwara EDGE Notre Dame
60 : Baltimore Raekwon Davis DL Alabama
61 : Tennessee Cole Kmet TE Notre Dame
62 : Green Bay Jacob Eason QB Washington
63 : Kansas City f/SF Noah Igbinoghene CB Auburn
64 : Seattle f/KC Kyle Dugger S Lenoir-Rhyne
3rd Round
65 : Cincinnati Prince Tega Wanogho OT Auburn
66 : Washington Devin Asiasi TE UCLA
67 : Detroit Darrynton Evans RB Appalachian State
68 : NY Jets f/NYG Robert Hunt OT Louisiana
69 : Carolina Damon Arnette CB Ohio State
70 : Miami Ashtyn Davis S California
71 : LA Chargers Cam Akers RB Florida State
72 : Arizona Lucas Niang OT TCU
73 : Jacksonville Neville Gallimore DL Oklahoma
74 : Cleveland Jonah Jackson OL Ohio State
75 : Indianapolis Brycen Hopkins TE Purdue
76 : Tampa Bay Amik Robertson CB Louisiana Tech
77 : Chicago f/DEN K.J. Hamler WR Penn State
TRADE: There aren't a lot of mock drafts with Hamler falling this far, but with a run on WR's in R1/R2, teams are going to need to turn their attention elsewhere, and that could result in the little guy sliding. Hamler is a rotational guy with big play ability that would fit perfectly in this offense.
78 : Las Vegas f/ATL Saahdiq Charles OT LSU
79 : NY Jets Hunter Bryant TE Washington
80 : Las Vegas Jordyn Brooks LB Texas Tech
81 : Las Vegas f/CHI K'Von Wallace S Clemson
82 : Tennessee f/DAL Chase Claypool WR Notre Dame
83 : Denver f/PIT Cameron Dantzler CB Mississippi State
84 : LA Rams Matt Hennessy OL Temple
85 : Detroit f/PHI Davon Hamilton DL Ohio State
86 : Buffalo Damien Lewis OL LSU
87 : New England Jeremy Chinn S Southern Illinois
88 : New Orleans Akeem Davis-Gaither LB Appalachian State
89 : Minnesota Jake Fromm QB Georgia
90 : Houston Bradlee Anae EDGE Utah
91 : Las Vegas f/SEA Zack Moss RB Utah
92 : Baltimore Jabari Zuniga EDGE Florida
93 : Tennessee Matthew Peart OT UConn
94 : Green Bay Bryce Hall CB Virginia
95 : Chicago f/DEN (SF) Harrison Bryant TE Florida Atlantic
TRADE: Look, I know the Bears have 11 TE's on the roster, but the only one who is really guaranteed to stick is Graham. Bryant is a perfect "move" TE and won't have to contribute right away. He's a former OT who has plus athletic traits, a high football IQ, and toughness as a blocker which makes him one of the most talented, well-rounded tight ends in this draft.
96 : Kansas City Tyler Biadasz OL Wisconsin
97* : Cleveland f/HOU Devin Duvernay WR Texas
98* : New England Bryan Edwards WR South Carolina
99* : NY Giants Terrell Burgess S Utah
100* : New England Jason Strowbridge DL North Carolina
101* : Seattle Ben Bredeson OL Michigan
102* : Pittsburgh Antonio Gandy-Golden WR Liberty
103* : Philadelphia David Woodward LB Utah State
104* : LA Rams Khalid Kareem EDGE Notre Dame
105* : Minnesota Alex Taylor OT South Carolina State
106* : Baltimore Shane Lemieux OL Oregon
Rest of the Bears Picks:
163: Ben Bartch OT St. John
Bartch is a converted TE who is still learning how to play OT. He's got an exciting skillset that will remind Juan Castillo of poor man's Lane Johnson, but he needs time.
178 -f/DEN: Patrick Taylor RB Memphis
Imposing RB who doesn't always act like one. Doesn't time well, but has open field speed on game day. Taylor offers versatility in the passing game as well. Kind of a bigger, less explosive Tarik Cohen.
196: Evan Weaver LB California
Weaver isn't a great athlete, but he's a tackle machine. He offers surprising pass rush ability in sub packages, and has intangibles and toughness to compete inside in a 3-4. Very similar player to Nick Kwiatkoski.
200: Rondell Carter EDGE James Madison
Carter has been a dominating presence, but the level of competition has to be taken into account. He's a locker room leader who teammates will gravitate towards. High character and high motor with great size who has solid developmental traits.
226: Jake Luton QB Oregon State
I don't know if the Bears will take a QB, and I don't know what kind of player the Bears are even after. Luton is an intriguing developmental quarterback with good size and mobility, adequate accuracy, and an NFL arm. He's operated in a pro-style passing attack with plenty of play-action and RPO concepts, and has the ability to push the ball down the field.
223: Tyler Clark DL Georgia
Clark has been an unsung hero on the Georgia defense who doesn't get the credit he deserves. Pace loves Georgia players, and Clark would provide depth and versatility in a variety of alignments.

I really like the Bryant pick. I think he's going to be a good fit in the offense.
I'm just not sure I'm there on Delpit. A safety who doesn't tackle well, especially one you want to play mostly in the box, makes me itchy.
Otherwise, really strong effort and obviously a ton of work - thanks!

I don't think it's fair to say he doesn't tackle well. His 2018 tape is pretty impressive.wulfy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 3:34 pm I really like the Bryant pick. I think he's going to be a good fit in the offense.

I'm glad you're not buying the Delpit hate. I think he was hurt most of 2019 and struggled. If he was slacking off or got too full of himself after 2018 or whatever other BS narrative people are sharing, he wouldn't have been playing in the national championship run.
Also, I love Hamler so this would be so much fun.

Delpit is probably one of my 2-3 favorite players in the draft (that the Bears realistically have a shot at anyway).crueltyabc wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 3:55 pm I'm glad you're not buying the Delpit hate. Kids + hospital = high priority suckiness. Glad to hear that situation is improving.
Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

People were talking about him being a top ten pick after 2018. Watch some of that tape - it's night and day compared to the 2019 tape. Something happened. What's your theory? Why can't the Bears get him to play like 2018?
