I dunno, I like the strategy but feels a year or two too soon. Is Erin really going to retire in 3 years or less?

Bears should have traded up to beat them to the punch. Now that hes a Packer, hes definitely gonna be a HOF.

I bet Erin is pissed. He's in win-now mode.

Packers forum wants their GM's head on a pike for this. HOF QB and no talent around him. Draft a prospect QB in the first that everyone says needs 2 years sitting.
I didn't really want Love regardless. He's real talented, but he throws a shocking number of badly uncatchable balls. I certainly wouldn't have traded up for him.
But my track record of being awful at evaluating college quarterbacks combined with him being an assho- I mean- Packer probably means he'll miraculously be a hall of famer.

Oh boy. Here we go!
I don't watch college ball so I have nothing to say about Love, but I guess this means Rodgers' days in cheese land are numbered...

I like the move (as a Bears fan). It pissed 12 off for sure.
But, I feel it is a smart move. He can sit about 3 yrs (like 12 did) learn the game, work on his mechanics and probably improve. I think it is a win move for that organization in the long run. They need some talent, sure, but the draft isn't over.
Drafting QBs has been that organization's game and they are still playing it.

Pukers are desperate for WR help, with a great WR draft class, and they trade up for the #4 QB? Looks like they're dumping milk in cheeseheadlandia. May their streak of QB's be finally broken here and now, as Erin keeps losing speed and patience.
San Francisco has always been my favorite booing city. I don't mean the people boo louder or longer, but there is a very special intimacy. Music, that's what it is to me. One time in Kezar Stadium they gave me a standing boo.

Here was how it went in front of my TV with Packer fan son...
As the picks entered the 20's, after the earlier run on OTs, he was hoping for the WR Jefferson who was also gone. So he was fully in a "in Gutekinst I trust" state of mind. Then it comes across that the Pack had traded up 4 spots and he's all a quiver. After review, he's convinced it's for Patrick Queen, who is eerily similar to Roquan Smith.
"And the pick is Jordan Love".
We were both completely jaw dropped. Son goes, "What?!? Really???" We discussed how this is clearly because Rodgers is 36 and more injury susceptible. And it mirrors how they handled aging Favre. But he was pissed because they should be in win now mode. He went to bed pissed.
Personally, I think it could theoretically be a shrewd move as it was when they drafted Rodgers back in the day. But we're talking about Aaron Rodgers here. He's going to be pissed that they drafted his replacement instead of a player who could help him win in 2020. He's certainly not going to help develop Love. Rodgers is just not that kind of guy. If things start not going well, particularly if they're weak at a particular spot (WR?), Rodgers is going to be in the face of the GM over it.
Personally, I'm excited at this development. Discord in Packerland? I'm all for that. And one point that Packer fan son yipped about last night... It's not like this is the same as the Favre situation. Rodgers was discussed as a potential #1 pick. Absolutely nobody was saying that about Jordan Love.
It's all good.

Just further proof that Rodgers is well hated by everybody....
I'm not real impressed with Love and I loved this move until I realized how much this could come back to bite us. I've been playing the drums on my wooden coffee table all night long. But if the Bears did that, I'd be PISSED OFF.

If or when they tell Rodgers to hit the bricks, I'd welcome him here with open arms.
That dude would, even at age 39, be the best QB the Chicago Bears have ever had. And to have him that pissed off and looking to murder GB? Yes, please.

OMG, the rage and confusion on the Packer forums is delicious. Erin has been very quiet since the pick. I'm loving this.

They could have stayed at 30 and got Love. It's a real head scratcher.

Now we need to draft Hurts, so we can have "The Love/Hurts Bowl" for the next 10 years.
