A head scratcher for me, unless they're thinking either, a) Wentz gets injured all the time, so we need a quality fill-in (even though he's going to be a project) or b) Wentz can't stay healthy, so we're picking a guy who might eventually replace him. And in the mean time, we can make some sub-packages for the guy.
Doesn't seem more sensible than just maintaining a quality backup QB to me though. But you have to think Pederson has some mad scientist in him.
