Pick at corner

What does everyone think about Jaylon Johnson from Utah? If he falls to the 43rd pick, I think he would be a great schematic fit and a starter right out of the gate. Good size, athletic, plays the ball, and likes to press receivers. Thoughts?

Unfortunately, I think that you are right, but we can hope right. #BEARDOWN

I like him an awful lot. I just don’t think he makes it out of R1

I think his injury resume is very concerning - but I could just be being a worry wort (sp?)

Something like 3 shoulder surgeries? If his medicals check out for us, though, I'd love to have him.

I know they have had multiple conversations with Cameron Danzler also ... I thought Arnette could be a fall back corner at 50 or at a move into the 3rd, guess not.

I prefer Johnson, but Rich is right on the injury history. I think Diggs is interesting - I'm not sure who said it on the broadcast last night, but it was said that Saban provided a lot of over the top coverage help from the safeties on Diggs ... signifying that he didn't really have the confidence in him on an island.

Bryce Hall is very Prince Amukamura-ish - big, physical and slow.

Amik Robertson is a nice player, but too short (5-8) to play outside.

I am wondering where some of this information is coming from in Johnson's injuries? He tore his labrum in 2018 and never told anyone. He never missed a game (2018 or 2019 with the exception of a bowl game that was by choice) , he did have surgery this off season for it, but it was deemed minor. The guy played 39 games in 3 years at Utah (12 as a true freshman) and graduated with a business degree in 3 years with a 3.6 g.p.a. I really like smart players in our secondary.

Having said all of that, if he is not there at #43 I think Fulton from LSU could be a solid starter. Not as much of a playmaker, but definitely a consistent defender that can make a qb hold onto the ball longer, which with our defense is huge! And I think we could get him at #50 or maybe later if we trade back and pick up another pick in the 3rd or 4th so that we can put the focus on OL.

Everything you want in a CB but he fell due to injury history. I really like this pick. The bears should just get a shoulder specialist doctor on retainer for this dude and miller

Pace loves torn labrums and shoulder surgery prospects in round 2

This kid is a good one though, round 1 value IMO. Solid press-man corner, should start opposite Fuller.

Like a less spendy, more athletic Prince. I get it.

Wulfy's happy. The announcers called him the third best CB in the draft. Sad we didn't trade down, but good value. I don't think teams are paying appropriate value in trade downs and Pace just walked away from being taken.

A home run if he can stay on the field. Time will tell.

I like this guy and CB was a huge need, hole plugged. He likely starts week 1. Toughed out a whole season with a torn labrum? Tough and dedicated.

Pace hasn’t reached and has taken guys from big programs with good tape, no trade up...he’s doing well with what we have.

In retrospect, he will have an easier time finding a decent S later than he would have a CB.

Let's hope they have good info on the shoulder. Otherwise good profile.

If that shoulder holds up, he's a round 1 corner in the second half of round 2. Good gamble either way.

Big fan of the player. I thought the need at OL was bigger, but I can’t complain at all. He was my #3 CB and I thought he’d go in the late teens.

The OL holes irritate, but this guy seems like he’s beyond his years. Hopefully his best, healthiest years are ahead of him. Athletic had a great write up on the guy.

Liked this pick. Injury history but that's the risk with a 1st round talent day 1 starter type at 50.

We got our wish. R1 talent at 50. I don't dislike the Kmet pick, but I think this is excellent.

Eddie Jackson was an injury risk too, how's that working out?

Shoulder injuries are a concern but he has played through them...He’s only missed one game I believe

He’s a future number 1 CB IMO

Thrilled - Never thought he’d be there at 50. Probably the 3rd or 4th best CB in the draft. Immediate plug and play starter.

If you told me we got Johnson at 43 and Kmet at 50, I would have been ecstatic... we just did it backward.

Better than Brandon Hardin and Dan Bazuin.

Pace didn’t draft either of those guys lol
