If the 49ers take him at three, I think that guarantees that five QBs are gone by pick #9 which is insane. There might be a bidding war for the Lions pick between the Broncos and the Panthers who will both want the last one.

All the better for us, man; keep pushing that talent down to #20.crueltyabc wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 11:37 am If the 49ers take him at three, I think that guarantees that five QBs are gone by pick #9 which is insane. I'm wondering if it means that teams like Denver, New England, and Washington panic and snap up the second tier guys. Because if they panic about QB then you know Pace is going to do something "with conviction" and we end up spending multiple picks to get Mond in the second round or something...

For some reason after watching Mac Jones' pro day (2nd one)... there's something that I'm not digging. My spidey sense is saying stay away. I hope the Niners take him at 3. I really like Lance and Fields. Actually I think I'm kind of interested in the Bears taking that Stanford green bean Mills in the 3rd if they can.

I can’t put my finger on it, but I agree. Something was just sort of...off.IE wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 5:10 pm For some reason after watching Mac Jones' pro day (2nd one)... there's something that I'm not digging. Maybe! Or Joey Harrington? It was kind of like he "didn't want to be defined by football", and would rather play the piano.
Not to go full homer Ditka passion & fire or anything... but maybe there was something I perceived as Jones being a little dispassionate in his 2nd (supposedly better) pro day. And then there was a little bit of "I'm above this" feel (e.g., the sarcastic comment about "see - I'm not a statue"). Let your play do the talking - not your mouth.
I absolutely 100% want a QB that has some kind of a chip on their shoulder, who exorcises their demons on the field... who NEEDS to "show everybody".
I'd rather spin the wheel on Mills or Trask.

I read that as a chip on his shoulder - to each their own

That was mentioned in the audio of the tape I saw too - but I saw it differently and it actually bothered me that he seemed to believe he proved something there. The key point to me, as I wrote is: "who exorcises their demons on the field...". Practice reps in a canned demonstration environment is not proving anything. Jon Quinn was a probowler with his red jersey on.RichH55 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 08, 2021 9:46 pmIE wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 11:48 am

I personally think a team has to trade to 7 with the Lions to get Fields. And the Bears just don't have the firepower. Denver or Carolina have more, and have the same need.
Edit: Strike Carolina - forgot about Darnold. Not that I think that would preclude them from taking a QB depending on how things fell.

Mock Draft season has officially moved me from "I will call for Ryan Pace's job if he drafts Mac Jones at 20" to "I will be relieved if Jones goes to the Bears at 20 because it means Pace didn't trade three firsts to draft Kyle Trask at 15"
So yay! Let's go McCorckle!
