Watching more of his videos from different games, not necessarily highlights, his decision making is really raw, and he doesn't see underneath LB or S very well. He sees the receiver and the DB. He threw some really bad picks right to the other team because he just didn't see the defense correctly.
However. I will take the solid fundamentals and plus arm over a lack of experience. I will also take the raw intelligence over flashy play. I think he's got the make-up for a solid NFL QB. But he isn't a year 1 starter by any means.

He is not, no. You'd want him to sit behind an experienced starter for a year.
Like, say, Andy Dalton.

Yep. I'm not yet convinced they want to get rid of Foles -- I'm beginning to think they like him as Dalton's backup so whichever QB they plan to draft doesn't have to play.

Meteoric rises always make me nervous. I don't know if it's justified or not.

Yeah, it feels really obvious now. I'm at peace with the Dalton signing because we all know it's only for a year, and after what happened with Mitch, Pace/Nagy are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that whoever they take isnt forced into starting next year.thunderspirit wrote: ↑Fri Mar 19, 2021 12:08 pmYep. Yea, the thing with Foles is there isn't much to get out of. His costs this year are all basically sunk or guaranteed unless you trade him and I'm not sure he has any trade value. Maybe you could literally give him away in a trade, but at that point hes a pretty good backup for the cost.thunderspirit wrote: ↑Fri Mar 19, 2021 12:08 pmYep. Does anyone have a link to his Pro Day? It was on NFL Network last week. I don't see this big time arm that many are clamoring, but to be fair I do strongly believe that he throws more with touch than with velocity. This has led to some frustrating INTs... yes the ball placement was perfect but it was feathered in there which gave the corner/safety time to get over and pick it off. Those windows will be even smaller in the NFL.

I like him too. Like him much better than Mond. Never got a chance to see him against my Ducks as he was injured in both '19 and '20, but he played really well against the Beavers both years. Injuries have to be a concern though.

Couple of thoughts:
- 4.66 and 4.58/40s at his Pro Day.
- His Pro Day weather for shit - windy and rainy and he excelled in the bad conditions. Flip was right on the field directly engaged with the workout vs the other scouts who were in the tent.
- He is know for his "arm talent" (aka Big Arm) but I find more impressive the ease at which he throws the ball - he has as much touch as he does the ability to spin it.
- I also like his WR #13 Simi Fehoko a lot
- I've heard a lot of comparisons as a Poor Man's Mac Jones .... but I think he is closer, style wise, to Daniel Jones of the Giants.

Yeah, he's my guy too Wulfy. If he keeps rising though, we may have to take him in the first. What I like about him is that he can sling, but he can also throw with touch (something that Mitchell struggled with). Mills can drop it in the bucket on the long ball.
Also, how much has he really climbed up the boards if he was the Number 1 QB recruit in the country coming out of college? The potential has always been there.

“Davis has something you can’t teach,” [QB coach Tony] Ballard said. “He’s so calm and even-keel. He’s not too up or too down, just a straight-line kid. … He’s also as fundamentally sound as you can find. A lot of kids don’t have his ability to recognize coverages fast. There is not much in high school football that he hasn’t seen or doesn’t know how to beat. His biggest attribute is anticipation – he can throw into small windows and throw guys open.”

I'm out. I want an OT in Round 1. And if not that, a CB. Prefer Trade Down and pick up both of those as well as Mills. A WR can be had in Round 3. There are some good ones there.

Yeah, generally a fan's desire to draft an offensive lineman is inversely proportional to how close we are to the draft. Middle of October and your QB has 2 seconds to throw? OL IN ROUNDS 1-3. FOOTBALL IS WON IN THE TRENCHES you tell the Wendy's girl desperately wishing you'd just place your order. A TEAM IS BUILT FROM THE LINE OUT you find yourself mumbling to yourself in the shower.Yogi da Bear wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 6:51 pmI'm out. I want an OT in Round 1. And if not that, a CB. But by mid-April you're wondering if the 6th round is too soon to look at tackles.

Nope.
WR is pretty deep in this draft, and you can potentially get a contributor in Round 3 or Day 3. I don't see the same thing at T this year.
I also think Mills is gone before #52, personally.

From the outside looking in, I like Mills. That said, the more I watch the more I’m concerned. He makes some really bad decisions with the ball. I don’t think he goes as early as some here think...I’m betting 4/5 round.

Yep, he also feathers the ball into the receiver too much, which allows for defenders to not only break up the pass but intercept it too. Needs to figure out how to maintain accuracy while keeping velocity.
Those touch passes won't fly with DBs that run 4.3-4.4.
Question is if he can improve/develop that (I'm of the opinion he can).
