For creating the actual geometry, or preparing an existing CAD file for 3D printing?

Long story short in my youth I used cad a bit. My buddy has a 3d printer, and are looking at printing a prototype idea for a possible business.

He uses fusion 360, and another to dissect the file for printing. I have been trying a few out tinker, sketch up. However my cad expertise is old and limited.

Just looking for what program is the best. I can't download fusion 360.

Gotcha,

I used SolidWorks and UGS NX at work and our 3D printer comes with it's own slicer.

But at home, for freeware CAD stuff, I used http://www.onshape.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I've found it to be an awesome free tool. Limited features, but what is there, is good. it's cloud based too, so you don't need to download anything

Last things that I drew up and had made were custom hubs
