different from Polygamy in that it involves multiple relationships which may or may not include a married couple, while Polygamy is multiple marriages

also different from Swingers who hook up to share sex partners but not to share relationships, though some do

interesting concept ... I know of people who have made this work for them ... everyone is happy and getting along

I also know of people who went down this road and had it blow up in their faces, which included a divorce by a couple involved and a complete splitting of the entire group
What was your role in all that? Just curious ... and by that, I mean "interested to hear", but not "curious" in a sexual experimentation way.... lol.

I think it is hard enough to keep 1 relationship on a happy even keel ... lots of juggling required for more than 1 I would think

The Car for the Russian Zombiepocalypse: Maximum Maxima

If I had to fight off hordes of zombies, I’d want a good car that could quickly escape, and could also keep me out of harm’s way from the biters. And while the forecast has yet to be cloudy with a chance of walkers, it’s still never too early to prepare for our eventual demise at the hands of these mutants. These guys in Russia seem to have a good head start.

Image

This insane vehicle apparently started out as a Nissan Maxima, but with a little nip here and tuck there in some 3D modeling software – and a whole lot of metal bending and welding, it sure doesn’t look like a Nissan anymore. Actually, if you stand back and squint really hard, it looks kind of like a massive VW Beetle.

interesting design ... wonder if this will end up in a future movie

and in case you didn't know, March 6th is National Oreo Day
First created in 1912, Oreo cookies have entered their 102nd year of taste bud domination. The snacks have greatly evolved from their humble beginnings. Initially just a pair of chocolate cookies with cream filling between them, the cookies now come in a variety of options -- including Double Stuf and wafer versions. With billions of cookies sold since their introduction, Oreos remain the top-selling packaged cookie in America.

In honor of National Oreo Day on March 6, we've gathered 15 interesting facts about the tasty cookies.

1. Oreo cookies were first created in a New York City bakery and sold in a tin for 30 cents per pound.

2. It remains a mystery exactly why the cookies are named Oreos.

3. They were created with British customers in mind.

4. They were initially named “Oreo Biscuits.” But the name changed to the “Oreo Crème Sandwich” in the 1940s and to the “Oreo Chocolate Sandwich Cookie” in the 1970s.

5. The original Oreo recipe included pork fat for the creamy center.

6. Oreos are the world’s best-selling cookie.

7. They can be found in more than 100 countries.

8. It takes a total of 59 minutes to make an Oreo.

9. When they first debuted, there was also a lemon meringue flavor of Oreos.

10. In China, you can purchase green tea ice cream flavored Oreos.

11. Women rather than men are more likely to pull their Oreos apart before eating them.

12. Oreos became Kosher in December 1997.

13. If all the Oreos ever manufactured were stacked, they could reach the moon and back more than five times.

14. Lemon meringue Oreos were discontinued in the 1920s.

15. More than 450 billion Oreo cookies have been sold worldwide since their debut.

FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick, Maryland, woman says she was served a bag of marijuana with her fast-food order at a Sonic drive-in.

The Frederick News-Post reported Friday that Carla McFarland says she found the little plastic baggie in a container along with the French fries she bought Wednesday in Frederick.

McFarland says she complained to a manager and called police. She says a manager later told her an employee had been fired after saying the bag must have slipped from her apron.

Man dies at South Dakota hot dog eating contest
Posted: Jul 08, 2014 10:36 AM EST Updated: Jul 08, 2014 10:37 AM EST

CUSTER, S.D. (AP) - A Fourth of July hot dog eating contest in western South Dakota turned tragic when a contestant choked to death.

Walter Eagle Tail, 47, of Custer, died at a hospital Thursday after attempts to save him at the scene failed, Custer County Sheriff Rick Wheeler told the Rapid City Journal (http://bit.ly/1n3EKRD" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ).

"There was someone doing CPR when we arrived," Wheeler said. "He probably just suffocated. It got lodged in his throat and they (paramedics) couldn't get it out.

"It all happened within minutes," the sheriff said.

The Custer Chamber of Commerce, which sponsored the contest, canceled a pie-eating contest scheduled for Friday.

well, at least they had the good sense to then cancel the pie eating contest

I have never understood the whole competitive eating thing, nor how/why some of the competitive eating events are covered by ESPN as a "sport"

Forgotten Vials of Smallpox Found in Storage Room
ATLANTA — Jul 8, 2014, 12:03 PM ET
By MIKE STOBBE AP Medical Writer
Associated Press

Government officials say workers cleaning a storage room at a research center made a startling discovery last week — decades-old vials of smallpox forgotten in a cardboard box.

The only other known smallpox samples are in super-secure labs in the U.S. and Russia.

Officials say the six vials of freeze-dried virus were sealed and pose no immediate danger. The virus usually has to be kept cold to remain alive and dangerous. The Centers for Disease Control and Preventions says these were stored at room temperature.

Further tests will determine if the samples are dead.

The vials were found at the National Institutes of Health in Maryland and may have been stored there since the 1950s.

One of the most deadly diseases in history, smallpox was declared eradicated in the 1980s.

so how can a group responsible for health "forget" about vials containing one of the deadliest diseases they were working on at the time?

there is a bad joke about "close enough for government work" in there somewhere, but I don't really feel like laughing this off

Weird News :
Woman Confesses To Filming Porn In Church After Tipster Recognizes Her Breasts
The Huffington Post | By Andres Jauregui
Posted: 08/12/2014 11:26 am EDT Updated: 08/12/2014 11:59 am EDT

This isn't your run-of-the-mill confession.

A woman in Austria admitted to filming a pornographic video inside a church after a tipster recognized her breasts.

In a video posted online, the woman, whose face is not shown, undoes her top and caresses her breasts while holding what appears to be a Bible and a rosary. The New York Daily News reported that at least two porn videos featuring the same woman were filmed at the same church in June.

According to the Austrian Times, Bernhard Pauer, a priest with the Diocese of Linz, went to police after parishioners said they recognized their church in the video.

After the footage was screened on local television, a tipster came forward and said he recognized the woman's breasts. Horsching police were then able to track down the 24-year-old amateur video star, who confessed. She now faces charges of offending religious feeling and desecration of a church.

Mother charged after son sets himself on fire for Facebook video
WINSTON-SALEM N.C. Tue Aug 12, 2014 9:42am EDT

(Reuters) - A North Carolina woman is accused of helping record her teenage son set himself on fire after he doused his body with fingernail polish as part of a social media stunt, police said.

Janie Lachelle Talley, 41, watched as her 16-year-old son attempted to complete a "fire challenge" video for Facebook on July 29, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said on Monday. The boy suffered minor burns on his chest and neck.

The video showed others put out the fire.

"The mother of the victim was present and aware of what her son doing and facilitated the recording," a police statement said.

Police arrested Talley on Aug. 6 and charged her with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, according to the statement.

The "fire challenge" has been spreading on social media with people pouring flammable liquid on themselves, lighting it, trying to quickly extinguish the fire and then posting a video online.

the ice bucket challenge also started as a facebook challenge (now gone nuts but is helping rake in cash for charity) ... how does setting yourself on fire in some way seem like a good idea?

maybe the challenges need to combine? so then the ice bucket can be dumped on the person that is on fire

Colorado town sues all its voters over election
The Associated Press
Posted on Wednesday, 08.13.14

CORTEZ, Colo. -- The Colorado mountain town of Montezuma is suing its 61 registered voters in an effort to sort out the results of an April election that the lawsuit says was filled with errors.

The Denver Post reports (http://goo.gl/vfDSB6" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) that the lawsuit filed last week commands the voters to appear in court so a judge can examine the election results for mayor and town board.

Twelve people ran for mayor and Lesley Davis won by three votes. There are claims that second-home owners participated, and Davis says 13 voters and at least two candidates were not residents of the town. She says the lawsuit is the only option to determine how to move forward.

Several town residents have hired an attorney to challenge the lawsuit.

The Orion crew module, stacked atop its service module, moved out of the Neil Armstrong Operations and Checkout Building at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Sept 11. Orion was transported to the Payload Hazardous Servicing Facility at Kennedy where it will be fueled ahead of its December flight test. During the flight, Orion will travel 3,600 miles into space to test the spacecraft systems before humans begin traveling in Orion on future missions.
