I don't have a place for you to stay as of right now since I'm living in the dorms, but I'm thinking about getting an apartment in the fall, but at this point I don't know what my living arrangements are going to be.

There are plenty of hotels in Ames that I've stayed in a couple of times that were good for a one night stay.

I have no idea how the Cyclones chose a cardinal as their mascot, but that's pretty clearly what he is.

Long history made short, Iowa State used to be the Cardinals until they played Northwestern in football back in the late 1800s and crushed them. The Chicago Tribune described it the next day that Northwestern probably would have had a better chance taking on a cyclone. Iowa State adopted "Cyclones" has their team nickname from that point on, but kept the cardinal colors (until they got new uniforms this year and basically stole USC's colors and schemes.) And when they went to go create a team mascot, it was much easier to make a cardinal mascot instead of a cyclone.

That's why their last logo before they got this "I State" logo shit was the best fit. With a cardinal coming up out of a cyclone, it kept school history and its current status intact, but this new "I State" is supposedly "better." Somehow.
