Well shit - twitter reporting that a bunch of teams have Landry red-flagged for back/ankle.

Damn.
Holy Shit - We got Justin Fields!

In my former life I was known as FencikFanatic.

Oh, and if you were wondering - yes I'm real. And I'm fantastic.

That's good news, don't need any more injury risk guys on this team.

Hoping one of Daniels, Hernandez or Landry (assuming his ankle is ok) make it to us.

But I had a Facebook memory show up today where I blew up about drafting Forte. So I don’t know s@@@.

Rumor is that the Bears were targeting Mike Hughes with a trade back into the 1st round.

If we wind up with either Landry or Kirk I’m gonna be stoked. If we draft Kirk I’m referrring to him as Captain Kirk going forward.

Trade back coming... At least based on history.
Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

So much talent left in the 2nd.

I think I'd go Landry / Hernandez / Kirk / Williams if we don't trade back.

I like Williams if only because he has the feet and athleticism to play LT, but is strong enough to slide inside and bully people at OG.

He's going to need to gain weight regardless - but he is a tremendous prospect.

Wow I didn't know everyone liked Williams! He was my OT and agree that he can play guard for us.

Here are my notes on my favs for round 2:

Connor Williams is BPA in my opinion
Legs like tree trunks and nasty attitude. Best college tackle in 2016 according to some. Moves pretty well though battled a knee injury in 2017. At current speed he's a good guard and OK tackle, if his knee gets to 100% and he's playing like 2016 he's a good tackle. best tackle in this weak class

Lorenzo Carter
Doesn't have great pass rusher moves yet, but uses that 4.5 speed and his OLB versatility will be a plus. similar to Floyd but he's got better size. Uses long arms well to shed blocks. Looks comfortable in space. Nose for the ball who will run to make tackles on receivers and look to strip the ball.

Will Hernandez
Pretty good athlete despite his looks and combine stats. Crazy strong. Happy to run out and kill guys on pulls or targeting bubble LBs. 2nd best pure guard.

Isaiah Oliver
Bit of a prima donna. plays like he's the best player on the field. sometimes seems to think he's too good to get dirty trying to tackle a guy, but his man coverage is great and attitude helps in a CB sometimes

Connor Williams was a top 5 overall pick based on 2016 tape.

2017 was not quite as impressive and two injuries limited him to 5 games.

While the injuries certainly slowed him down, I think his third OL coach and 4th OC (and two head coaches) in 3 years didn't do him any favors.

I'm a Texas fan-boy - so its hard for me not to be biased but this kid is exactly what you want in an OL. He's a smart kid who was admitted to the McComb's School of Business but who plays angry and with a chip on his shoulder. He was bullied as a kid for being fat - and he learned to take out all of that pain/humiliation/frustration/aggression on the football field.

He'd be a great pick if thats the direction Chicago wants to go (and if he's available at 39). I think he might be a prime target for either CLE or IND.

If Hernandez is available at 39. We have to take him. He is a plug and play LG, that can start day one. He is arguably first round OL talent.

Yep. Hernandez and Williams are likely to be gone by the time IND and CLE make their two picks each at the top of the 2nd.

I've never really thought about it before - but Williams and Long have similar physical/measureables.

The only real difference in their numbers is Long ran the 40 a tenth of a second faster than Williams. Their 3 cone and shuttle times are identical. Both have 33" arms, though Long stands about an inch taller than Williams. Williams had the better broad and vertical jump.

Williams was a HS TE who was recriuited as an OT and started immediately at Texas - so he's definitely an athlete.

I feel like the amount of talent we should be available at #39 would lend us to trade down more so than trade up.

I’m in the same boat. There are many players that I’d be happy to get with our next pick. Several guys still around that I was pretty sure would go in the first round.

Would love James Daniels, if his medicals are okay.

Like Connor Williams, Isaiah Oliver, and Sam Hubbard. Also would be okay with Harrison Phillips or Carlton Davis.
