Guess it isn't necessary to be 6'5" 245 to be a great QB..499TDS..New total passing yard record and doesn't look like he's done..

Amazing..

Hall of Fame player. An absolute class-act human being. Relishes the moment, and then it’s right back to work. Not hyperbole, the world is a better place because of people like Drew Brees.

Watching Brees on Bear Grylls' show, you really got a sense for what a great person that Brees is. Which for me, is an important part of his total legacy. Great QB, great person.

Cam Meredith had 5/71 last night. Good to see him as part of this. I enjoy following him, because he's such a great story.

Brees was pretty good while the QB in San Diego, and for some reason, the Chargers couldn't wait to replace him. I am guessing it was because Phillip Rivers was the larger prototype they felt they had to have.

The trade to New Orleans worked out for Brees, and I guess the Chargers are happy with Rivers. But hey, which one has the Super Bowl ring?

Manning's congratulatory video was hilarious.

Drew Brees....what a good dude and great QB. He doesn't have the rings, which is a shame, but he has done a helluva lot for a 5' 10" QB. I think after Brady, I may have to have him #2.

Guess I should have explained myself better, I knew he had one ring, but he doesn't have ringS. Seems as if you have to have plural to be considered close to a GOAT.

Where does he rank all time? Top 5? Top 10?

Great player and seems like a class act.

Quarterbacks? Top 3 for me. He can’t control how terrible some of those defenses have been. He’s a baller.

He'd have to be top 10 at a minimum. Top 5 most likely.

My list is:

1. The GOAT
2. Joe Montana
3. Peyton Manning
4. Brees? I don't know if I could put him ahead of those three other guys.

Sure, but that doesn’t impact how great of a player he is/was.

I was meaning that he had some measure of control on the defences, cap dollars to him are cap dollars that can't go on defence. I think that will impact how great he's perceived to be as 1 ring isn't enough to be in the conversation with the 1st tier QBs, at least for a lot of people.

Man..I think he’s top 15 for sure...maybe top 10...but top 5??

You know the guy who’s probably going to take over for him as the all time leading passer right? Matt Stafford...

Montana
Brady
Manning
Rogers
Elway
Favre
Marino
Young(maybe)

These are guys I’d take before Brees. This isn’t even counting some of the older guys. I like Brees and think he’s an all time great, but you have to take stats now a days with a grain of salt. If you look at some of the names on the all time list you’ll know why.

People really do tend to discount scheme continuity and coaching ability when evaluating QBs.

Brady, for example, recently said that if Aaron Rodgers was in Bill Belichick's system, he'd throw for 7,000 yards every season.

That being said:

Montana
Rodgers
Brady (I'm a notorious Brady hater, but I can't discount the rings)
Manning
Elway
Marino
Favre
Brees

Brady
Montana
Manning
Elway
Unitas (top 15 in stats, and played when passing was taboo. )
Rodgers
Brees
Marino
Farve
Young
Graham (whom I really know nothing about)

well we are Bears fans ... so since we only rarely see scheme continuity and coaching ability, it is only natural for us not to consider it as part of any evaluation equation
