The NFL will likely open the 2019 season with the Chicago Bears hosting the Green Bay Packers, rather than feature the defending champion New England Patriots, sources told John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal.

The traditional Detroit and Dallas Thanksgiving games will be the Bears against the Lions and the Dolphins against the Cowboys, according to Sports Business Daily.

I don't mind the Thanksgiving game. But I hate the Thursday opener. Whatever...the Bears are good and it's their 100th season. I'll live.

I went the last two times since Detroit is about as close for me as Chicago. Great excuse to avoid some family on Thanksgiving in my case, and lots of Bears fans in the building. I watched the Bears get blown out the first time. I just remember every time Jeffery would run a deep route and then lazily immediately take himself out of the game the next play. Things you don't necessarily pick up watching on TV, and Jeffery wasn't the only one. There was no energy or fight.

This last season I managed to find 4th row 50 yard line tickets for a great price. It was awesome being in the stadium when Eddie Jackson broke on the ball and scored, then Fuller's interception in the end zone, and finally Cohen's run on 3rd down to put the game away. I figured it would be another few years before the Bears played on Thanksgiving, but I guess that was wrong.

While a Thanksgiving game is fun for me and the family, I generally am not a fan of the Thursday games for the team. I tend to think because the last preseason game happens before Sunday, that softens the blow of the early game the first week. Of course, there is the travel...... :|
Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

Go back to leather helmets, NFL.

I like the Thanksgiving Bears games. I have a rule with my family that I don't participate in anything Thanksgiving if the Bears play unless it is before, and finished, before the game, or after the game.

The Thursday games are just annoying. I feel the same way about the Monday ones too. I really would enjoy a Saturday night game, but that would conflict with college football. I don't watch much college football and don't have a "team", but every now and then there's an absolute gem on Saturday nights that I can't miss.

That Thursday opener sounds like a perfect time for my first visit to Soldier Field.

I can't even imagine what the ticket prices will be on the secondary market for that game.

I'll let you know. :D

Perhaps the experienced fans can suggest the best places to find tickets...
