That is true. I could see us keeping Howard and drafting a RB and going with what we have. What if we are all talking about a big offensive signing and Pace is thinking of getting Suh to play next to Hicks for a year or two lol.
All this speculation is fun but pointless lol.

ESPN's Dianna Russini said on NFL Live that "most GMs" around NFL believe offers to free agent Le'Veon Bell are "coming in around $11-12 million" per year, and that's obviously well short of what Bell wants.

With Jackson they could be bringing back the wishbone triple option.Otis Day wrote:I assume that means no Bell?

@AlbertBreer
Among that haven't really been in it for ex-Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell: Bears, Colts, Ravens, Texans and Bills. Market's tough.
Only takes one, and as the price drops teams may re-enter. Right now, feeling is you might be able to get him at $11-12 million per.

So maybe Pace is trolling Tevin Coleman?UOK wrote:Ravens are apparently finalizing a deal with Mark Ingram.
Davis, Coleman, and Cohen makes a pretty good looking backfield.
Deal Howard for added draft booty.
Bears could still pull the trigger if they wanted. I thought his price would come down to around 10ish. He’ll be signed tomorrow at the latest. I’m hoping it’s the bears. Bell would be the difference maker, No more sputtering out around the 25 yard line, we’d be getting TDs. Come on Pace, let’s go get that ring!UOK wrote:@AlbertBreer

Yeah. Good bye. Never wanted him. He's going to the Jets. That should tell you all you need to know. I certainly wouldn't want to pay him $13M a year.

Probably to make room for Bell if his price dropped. Hey. Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix is available. I mean...he sucks. But then the Packers and the Bears would have effectively swapped SS's.GSH wrote:So is our cap space juggling to re-sign callahan?
whats going on?
dunno man, pace has always been high on taking care of our guys who play well and deserve it. you gotta think callahan would be gone by now unless he was being stashed for some monster trade coming up. you have to think other teams enquired about him over amos.
next couple days are gonna be wild, whatever plays out, BEAR DOWN.

With Bell now off the market, the bears can’t be done in the running back department. Sounds like Ingram is heading to the ravens(thank you baby Jesus). Coleman and Yeldon are still available and would fit very nicely in Nagy’s offense.GSH wrote:So is our cap space juggling to re-sign callahan?

WTF is up with the bears backfield? Is Howard going to be a bear? Are they going to draft a back? It can’t be Davis although they’re paying him like it might be. This suspense is driving me bonkers.
Some of that cap should go to securing some of their own so they don’t hit these crazy markets next season.

Wasn't meant to be. At least he signed with the Jets and not either within the conference or the division.
It'll be interesting to see what Pace does with the cap money freed up by restructuring Mack's deal.

Bell would have been fun and an injection of excitement, but the salary ramifications would have been bad in the long run for us. Look how the Patriots plug and play RBs and refuse to get caught in the trap of getting screwed by a high price tag by them. We need to model after that and do the same.

From what I heard from watching NFL Network, ESPN and reading online, the Bears were not even in the mix. They reported that the Ravens were just watching as well and not active like some others reported.
