Round 3: Alexander Mattison - RB, Boise State
My favorite back in the draft, I think Mattison would fit right in our offense. A bigger back at 5’11” 220lbs, he plays faster than measured. He ran 4.67 at the combine, but had a 4.52 at his pro day. He lined up behind the QB at the goal line, which is a big part of what Jordan did for us. He also ran a lot of RPO, which will help Mitch, because we know he loves to run. Becoming the starter as a Sophomore, he ran for 1,086 yards at 5.1 ypc, and 12 TDs. As a Junior, he uped his game to 1,415 yards at 4.7ypc, and 17 TDs. In those two years, he was also fifth on the team with 55 catches.

Round 4: Kris Boyd - CB, Texas
While the Big-12 isn’t known for its defense, Boyd could be one of the exceptions to that rule. Combine measurements at 5’11”, 200lbs, 31” arms, 4.45 40, and a corner-leading 19 bench reps. A big, strong, press corner. Can jam receivers at the line. Can, and will, make tackles all over the field. Totaling 54 tackles and 15 batted passes in each of the last two years, only real negative is he only has three career picks.

Round 5: Jazz Ferguson - WR, Northwestern State
A mismatch everywhere on the field, we grab Ferguson here for immediate depth, also if we decide to eventually move on from AR15. After struggling academically, and failing a drug test at LSU, he was eventually suspended indefinitely from the program. After red-shirting a year NWS, he put up some real nice tape in 2018. 66 catches, 1,117 yards, and 13 TDs, he won Southern Conference Player of the Year for his efforts. There’s also been a bit of praise for his maturity since his transfer. A match-up nightmare. 6’5”. 225lbs. Speedy, but not just for his size. A talented wide-out, who knows how to control his big body.

Round 7: CeCe Jefferson - DE, Florida
Heavily recruited out of high school, a nice junior year aside, nothing really went his way as a Gator. Be it position, scheme, fit, or injury, he was more of a disrupter than a stats guy. At a 6’1” 260lbs, he never really settled at a position at Florida, but his projected position is 3-4 OLB. 123 career tackles, 35 tfl, and 10.5 sacks, worth a flyer here. I know it’s just measurable, but despite his height, at the combine his arms measured longer than Quinnen WIlliams, Josh Allen, Nick Bosa, Ed Oliver, Christian Wilkins, and top tackle Andre Dillard.

Round 7: Malik Fountain - LB, Central Michigan
With two teammates invited to the combine, Fountain was not, despite being the best defender on his team statistically. On the other hand, he didn’t have a great pro day. Still the Chicago native is coming off a senior year with 153 tackles, 8 for loss, a sack, and 2 picks.

Not gonna lie, Mattison in R3 is a major reach IMO..I like him but not in R3, I see him more as a R7 or UDFA prospect. The rest of the picks are fine, but no one really stands out. It'll be interesting to see how the real draft shakes out.

NFL.com has a 4th round grade on him. I’d say taking him late 3rd is a slight reach.

Both Mattison and Kris Boyd went to the Vikes... hope they suck!
