Antonio Brown Suffered Frostbitten Feet from Cryotherapy Machine

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/284 ... py-machine

Improper footwear is apparently the source of Antonio Brown's foot injury.

PFT Live's Chris Simms reported the Oakland Raiders wide receiver used a cryotherapy machine without the required protection and suffered frostbite on his feet as a result.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that Brown had visited a foot specialist and is day-to-day with the injury.

Raiders head coach Jon Gruden confirmed the team was "gathering information" about Brown and that the seven-time Pro Bowler isn't at training camp, per Scott Bair of NBC Sports Bay Area.

Fans knew something was wrong when Brown shared a photo of his feet in an Instagram story.

While the circumstances of his injury are unusual, the effects can be serious. Manny Harris saw his NBA career derailed when he suffered freezer burn after he wore wet socks during a cryotherapy session.

Brown doesn't seem to be in danger of a similar fate, but somewhat worryingly, Bair noted Gruden "refused to speculate on his readiness" for Oakland's season opener against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 9.

what a dumbass

frostbite is not something to screw around with regardless of how you got it ... people lose limbs from this ... so to injure himself by not being able to follow simple instructions to protect himself was not a smart move

It's a hard lesson, to learn that you don't always know as much as you think you know.
I will kill you if you cut me at the knees. You will drink with me when invited and stay til I say so. We only listen to American Music. I make men nervous with just my presence. I expect an apology if you hold. I throw linemen at QB's. Believe the Lore!

Raiders finally acknowledge that Antonio Brown froze his feet in a cryotherapy chamber

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2 ... y-chamber/

NFL Films, owned and operated by the NFL (including the Raiders), had nothing to say on Tuesday night’s debut of Hard Knocks regarding the reason for receiver Antonio Brown‘s inability to practice due to foot/feet problems. NFL Network, owned and operated by the NFL (including the Raiders), finally has confirmed that which first was revealed more than 24 hours earlier by Chris Simms on PFT Live.

Unnamed Raiders representative/players/whoever told Ian Rapoport of the NFL that, indeed, Brown injured his feet by entering a cryotherapy chamber without proper footwear.

Rapoport seems to hedge a bit with the report, explaining twice that the Raiders sources are “saying” that’s the reason for the foot/feet problem instead of just saying that, indeed, this is the issue. Maybe he just wanted to create the not-so-subtle impression that the reason for the foot/feet problem wasn’t already reported more than 24 hours earlier. Either way, there should be no skepticism about such a bizarre and specific reason for an injury — especially since the report had surfaced more than 24 hours earlier.

The fact that it happened in such an avoidable way explains why the Raiders opted to keep the reason for the foot/feet problem out of Hard Knocks. Disclosing that Brown did something that some would regard as dumb would make Brown look bad for doing it and, in turn, would make the Raiders look bad for putting so much emphasis on someone who would do something so dumb.

It will be interesting to see whether the next episode of Hard Knocks confirms the basis of the foot/feet problem. If it’s otherwise like last night’s debut, it may be the only thing interesting about it.

Cryotherapy is the thing where you stand in that freezing chamber right? I've always wanted to try that.

This whole saga has made me laugh and also reaffirmed a personal belief of mine. Most WRs are divas and not worth the hassle of huge contracts. Some are exceptions ( Fitzgerald for example )....I would rather pay the extra money to the right QB or pass rusher etc...

I guess it's always going to be something with this guy ...

Celebrity chef files lawsuit against Antonio Brown over unpaid $38,000 bill

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/n ... 016879001/

Another day, another different Antonio Brown story line to follow.

Celebrity chef Stefano Tedeschi filed a lawsuit against Brown on July 29 in Osceola (Florida) County court for a breach of contract. The chef alleges the Oakland Raiders wide receiver did not pay him for a weekend's worth of work that totaled $38,521.20, according to court documents.

Tedeschi, who goes by "The Sports Chef," told ESPN on Wednesday that Brown hired him to prepare three meals a day for multiple guests at the Orlando-area mansion he rented for the 2018 Pro Bowl.

The lawsuit alleges Tedeschi began cooking for Brown on Jan. 26, with breakfast and lunch for 15 guests and a dinner that night for "approximately 43 people." Breakfast and lunch were prepared the following day, but Tedeschi's suit says Brown demanded he and his staff leave the house without allowing him to serve the lunch or retrieve his equipment.

Brown files new grievance over helmet

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/274 ... nce-helmet

Oakland Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown has filed a new grievance against the NFL over his not having a full calendar year grace period to find a helmet that works for him, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

This grievance is the latest part of Brown's ongoing fight against an NFL policy that requires helmet certification according to industry standards. Brown already lost a grievance against the NFL that sought an exception so he could wear his Schutt Air Advantage, a helmet he has worn throughout his career.

A number of players, including New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, were given a one-year grace period last season that allowed them to wear helmets that were recently banned. The NFL and NFL Players Association eliminated the grace period after last season.

Brown believed last week that he had found a suitable replacement -- a helmet manufactured within the past 10 years -- but it did not meet additional testing parameters. Because the replacement helmet had just been banned, Brown believes he is owed the same grace period that other players were given last season, when their helmets were tested and banned, a source told Schefter.

Raiders GM: Time for Antonio Brown to be ‘all-in or all-out,’ get past helmet issue

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2 ... edirect=on

It turns out that Antonio Brown’s helmet saga has not quite run its course. However, the Oakland Raiders appear to have run out of patience with their star wide receiver, who skipped training camp Sunday.

“It’s time for him to be all-in or all-out,” Raiders General Manager Mike Mayock said of Brown to reporters. Oakland then emphasized Mayock’s message by posting his comments on the team’s official Twitter account.

Brown initially was absent from Raiders camp because his feet were frostbitten after a cryotherapy session. Then he threatened to retire because the league deemed his preferred helmet, a Schutt AiR Advantage, illegal. The only helmet he had worn in his first nine seasons, it was phased out under a safety policy enacted by the NFL and its players’ union.

After Brown lost a grievance hearing, he appeared to have found a loophole in which he could continue to wear his helmet if he could find versions of it less than 10 years old. He was able to round up a few and returned to training camp Tuesday. “Been dealing with a lot of adversity,” he said then. “I’m excited to be back, see my teammates and get in the groove of things.”

According to a report Saturday by Pro Football Talk, the NFL then found its own version of the Schutt helmet, from 2011, and administered a test that the equipment failed.

“Brown’s camp now believes that the NFL rushed to test the Schutt AiR Advantage specifically to keep Brown from wearing it,” Pro Football Talk reported, “without the grace period that others (such as Patriots quarterback Tom Brady) were able to utilize before permanently ditching their helmets.”

In a reply to a tweet Saturday from the website about its helmet scoop, Brown exclaimed on his official account, “Super Prejudice unbelievable!”

this is really getting to be kind of weird

wonder if the Raiders have an out where they can void his contract? wonder if maybe that is what Brown actually wants? he certainly hasn't done his due diligence in trying to acclimate himself to his new team after they threw all that cash at him

The Riders are "hating" by trying to get him to show up for work and enforcing the rules they have available to them?

And they actually traded for this dope.

Rumors from Pittsburgh were well known about his tendencies to miss meetings and be late all the time, along from his attitude.

And they still traded for him, after trading away cooper.

That second round pick is going to be sweet. I thought they were going to be bad before, now constant drama? They could implode.

So would we be better trading down and accumulating picks with that or hanging onto it? I wouldn't mind either an ILB to replace Trevathan eventually or an OL.

So what are the odds that he was pulled in, told hey we already have enough to void your contract totally including the bonus (based on what I have heard is in the contract) so you either apologize, show up and just play football or we are going to boot you out and you will never get a contract `1/2 this big again.

Ok, dude is either on cocaine, meth, has CTE, is bipolar or is just flat out batshit crazy or all of the above.

via ESPN he lost all his guaranteed money when he pulled all the BS during training camp and preseason resulting in fines. Mayock must have had a genius write that damn contract which I now understand why Brown was going after him. He was on a week to week deal with zero guarantees and minus 30 million dollars.

Nobody is going to give him huge money, but I sure don't want him in our division if he actually decides to play football.

Dude is god damn stupid. He just lost 30 million in guaranteed money plus the yearly salary being a damn diva.

Whenever you think your favorite football organization is fucked up, just say "Thank God I don't root for the Raiders."

Gruden is on a roll. First Mack and now Brown.
