Nineteen people qualified for my contest by posting score predictions for at least 9 of the Bears' games. That's way down from the 30 that qualified last year. Two of last year's qualifiers, EricTighe and Pagan, made no predictions this year and Funkster made no predictions after the first game; I hope none of them have died.

This forum also suffered a Brexit of sorts. The London game was a disaster for the Bears' chances, the predictions in this forum (everybody predicted a Bears' win), and participation in this contest. Three of last year's qualifiers predicted every game thru the London game, then never again. Another two only predicted again in the last game of the season in order to vent their spleen.

Here are this year's qualifiers: *AZ_Bearfan, *Bears Whiskey Nut, Boris13c, G08, GSH, IE, *Middleguard, *Mikefive, mmmc_35, MoFugger, Mr.Irrelevant, Ormazd, *Otis Day, Richie, *southdakbearfan, *The Marshall Plan, *UOK, wab, and WagonForce.
* = gold star for perfect attendance

3: 1)Mr.Irrelevant 2)Atkins&Rebel 3)wab
4: 1)mmmc_35 2)DaSuperfan 3)Richie
5: 1)GSH 2)Mr.Irrelevant 3)Boris13c
6: 1)Bears Whiskey Nut 2)UOK 3)Ormazd
7: 1)UOK 2)AZ_Bearfan 3)Mikefive
8: 1)Ormazd / Mikefive / The Marshall Plan
9: 1)WagonForce 2)mmmc_35 3)AZ_Bearfan
10: 1)Middleguard 2)Mikefive / Otis Day
11: 1)Mikefive / Boris13c 3)UOK
12: 1)Boris13c 2)IE 3)UOK
13: 1)IE 2)AZ_Bearfan 3)WagonForce
14: 1)IE 2)Ormazd 3)Middleguard
15: 1)IE 2)Otis Day 3)UOK
16: 1)wab 2)VA_Mountain_Bear 3)Boris13c

For those of you following the BWN vs GO8 feud...
over the first 6 games BWN was 5-0 (GO8 did not predict 1 game)
over the next 5 games they tied 2-2-1
over the last 5 games GO8 was 5-0 and finished higher in my final standings for the year.

The RICHIE award for a perfect prediction goes to GSH, WagonForce, and IE. Also to Wagonforce goes the name of
this award next year in recognition of winning the RICHIE last year as well.
The KOOLAID award for most error in favor of the Bears: 1)MoFugger 2)AZ_Bearfan 3)Mr.Irrelevant
giving the offense too much credit subaward: 1)IE 2)Mr.Irrelevant 3)AZ_Bearfan
giving the defense too much credit subaward: 1)MoFugger 2)mmmc_35 3)AZ_Bearfan
HEMLOCK award for most error in favor of the opponent: 1)Otis Day 2)Ormazd 3)Bears Whiskey Nut
giving the offense too little credit subaward: 1)Otis Day 2)Ormazd 3)mmmc_35
giving the defense too little credit subaward: 1)IE 2)Bears Whiskey Nut 3)UOK
The BASKETBALL award for predicting too much total scoring: 1)IE 2)Mr.Irrelevant 3)MoFugger
The HOCKEY award for predicting too little total scoring: 1)Otis Day 2)mmmc_35 3)Ormazd
The PETER PIPER award for picking the most winners: Middleguard and UOK both got the winner right 11 times,
but mmmc_35 had the highest percentage right with 10 of 13.
The Grifffin award for remaining invisible so far goes to southdakbearfan.
The MIDDLEGUARD award for most accurate predictions: 1)Middleguard 2)Mikefive 3)UOK

I can't win my own contest, so Mikefive, who snuck ahead of UOK in the final game, can claim the $50 prize. Check your PM.

Thanks. Good stuff.

It's funny I really did have an early outsized confidence in the Bears O ... even after the Packer game, which I just thought Nagy screwed up. And then Denver I thought was just a stellar D and winning ugly was fine. I kept thinking "OK - Now they're going to unleash Nagy 2.0 and start putting up 30-35 a game", and admit I was fooled by the organization's chest-thumping in the off-season and preseason. Then I learned about midway through the season that it actually HAD been released. And it fell sputtering to the ground like Saddam Hussein SCUD. And everything we heard out of the organization, coach & players leading up to the season might as well have come out of Baghdad Bob's mouth.

But it got really easy to predict later in the season. Nagy is predictable. 10 is predictable. Everything was predictable, and bum-slayers do what bum-slayers do.

Thank you, thank you very much. I want to thank my parents for making this all possible.

I want to thank my 50 yrs of fandom for my lack of optimism :frustrated:

I will try to be more positive, when there is something to be more positive about.

Congrats to the winners! I won last season and used my Bears $$ to cheer up my sister and her daughter after my sister got surgery. My niece looks cool in her Khalil Mack jersey :)

I feel like I should change my name to "Kool-Aid Man" and just start running through walls, scaring the shit out of children while yelling "Oh Yeah!".

I've been experiencing this new found sense of optimism....
Obviously, I hope it goes away real soon.

Just figured I would bump this thread for the newer posters who might not understand how @middleguard assesses things. See above! Its such a great part of this board throughout the season and everyone that posts here should get involved even if your predictions are your only weekly post. :)

Utmost hat tip to Middleguard for his hard work on this!
