Why? Undiagnosed mental illness?
nah...just not good enough at QB.

Seems like a nice guy though!

If signed, he'll be a Bridge to someone else

Hopkins for Johnson and a second would make Houston a laughing stock wouldn't it?!?!

also, Teddy B is the right pickup if they can make it happen.

Basically for a 2nd. They also exchanged 4th and 5th round picks.
Damn...I like that move for ATL...surprised Bmore lets him go, I was wrong there...

I'm open to almost anyone at QB except one...Teddy Bridgewater. I want NOTHING to do with him, he's just not all that good and has a massive injury history that makes the likelihood of him fulfilling a big contract unlikely.

Looks like Teddy B wants more money than the Bears are willing to give and is waiting to see what happens in Tampa Bay and Carolina.

I hate the thought of Foles and his giant contract. I'm still lukewarm on Dalton.

Carr doesn't look like he's going anywhere.

1. TB is better than MT (true).
2. With a good defense, we need a competent game manager (he is).
3. Maybe we can trade 10 for a late draft pick and get something for him.
4. $21M is cheap for a starting QB these days.
Yeah...but he's only looked like one for under half a season with a great team (with Brees posting significantly better numbers, so it's not like it was TeddyB's doing).

In a vacuum, I'd say it's a great chance to get better at QB.

But for that kind of money, multiple years, and/or significant guarantees...eh.
If he gets hurt again, or just looks like he did with the Vikings, the team could be hamstrung for 3-4 yrs, right through the end of this window.

What the hell do the Bears have to trade? I hope this is all smoke screen. Wait til these QBs are released.

Exactly. Dalton is $17m and Foles isn't much better if reading correctly. A 4th going to get either team to move and eat significant $

I have a major and irrational man crush on Jalen Hurts now...so I'm hoping we go that route. I want to spend what cash we have on our OL, all ships rise in that scenario.

I think if they bring in a re-tread like Dalton or (ugh) Foles they are absolutely still drafting a guy and letting the best man win.

If they bring in a guy like Bridgewater or Mariota, then I'm not entirely sure a QB is drafted.

Looks like the Bucs are trying to go all in on Brady.

If you are an NFL team that is in need of a QB not named Tom Brady, he still has you by the balls anyway.

So, if foles is traded, how much of his contract is automatically absorbed by the Jags? Could it be a Jags give us foles and a 6th for eating the portion of the contract that they aren't stuck with.

I hate foles, bridgewater and Dalton. Carr would be the only one I would be interested in replacing Mitch. Better to run out Mitch's contract and draft another.

Per NFL.com, Case Keenum has signed with the Browns for 3 years,
$18M, with 10M guaranteed. Pretty good contract for a backup.

The thing with Foles that is interesting...he knows the system...he can get super hot.....but our Oline sucks atm. So who knows? Dalton for free might ok. Carr IMO would be great but at what cost ,, and i doubt he is available. I too kind of like Hurts...but thats risky too.

Honestly at this point I am not sure what to hope for

It's.... getting old.
Getting old to you maybe? For us CBFans refuges it's ancient, decrepit and sickening.

I think the Hurst trade makes sense for the Ravens if they plan to add a WR (and they should) so the target share for Hurst would go down. They had a few good TEs last year

I would rather keep developing Bisky and see if we can fix the Oline with that $$$ instead. Change of some coaches, repaired Oline, and not playing injured in a harness...if he can't develop after those changes then draft again next year.
I really don't want Foles at all. Dalton would be...ok...if he was backing up and we aren't dumping starter $ on him.

3 years $21.5M with $13 guaranteed. This is less than Trevathan received if accurate.

Sorry for the radio silence with threads and such lately. My job has been absolute chaos since the "everybody must work from home" stuff set in.

So far the Bears have been doing, well, pretty much all the nothing I expected them to.

All things being equal, I like DT, but I would've signed the younger, sturdier Kwit. But that's just me.
Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

Go back to leather helmets, NFL.

Well they Bears just got a comp 4th, so they could burn that. Don't want Foles though. The guy's accuracy is wholly unreliable.

So Foles, never has played more than 13 games in a season, never started more than 11 games in a season (much less in most cases), never thrown for more than 2890 yards in a season, but why do I have the feeling he can do for us what Tanneyhill did for the Titans last year? Its the years following at 27M plus that scare me. I am perplexed!

I do think our QB move is waiting for Dalton or similar to get cut along with someone like Hurts. I also could see Josh Rosen on cheap. Also Flacco if released. Either way it's going to be Meh as far as vet competition

especially the rate in which we are burning up cap space on washed up TE's and oft injured linebackers.
