I disagree..he’s short but compact. He’s a physical player who’s not afraid to play around the line of scrimmage.

I absolutely think he can play SS in today’s NFL.

Granted his Dad had the Health gene

But the kid has been dinged up a decent amount in College already - the Physics doesn't get any easier at the next level

I like Winfield, Jr. a TON, but his size worries me a bit.

Reminds me of Mike Brown.

Oh, he's like the second coming of Mike Brown.

But the guy is not a SS. Neither is EJax. So unless you're playing two deep they're not on the field at the same time.

List below. 2 more who made it after leaving the Bears (Greg Olsen, Walt Harris).

Notable that four(!) made it as returners - Cohen, Knox, Hester, Azumah. Graham made it as a special teamer. So 5 total of the 23 as specialists. I'd be shocked if another team had more than 2. So that may help put the surprise in context.

Pace picks (5)
2017
Trubisky
Jackson
Cohen
2016
Whitehair
Howard

Emery picks (4)
2014
Fuller
Leno
2013
Long
2012
Jeffrey

Angelo picks (9)
2009
Melton
Knox
2008
Forte
2007
Graham
2006
Hester
2004
Harris
Vasher
2003
Tillman
Briggs

Hatley picks (5)
2000
Urlacher
Brown
1999

What is everyone's over/under for the number of technical problems that create real issues for the draft? A couple of examples I can think of:
-There will be a league wide chat set up I'm hearing, so if one team is going to draft in 3-4 picks and gets a public request to talk privately from a team looking to move up, but another team with the same needs sees that, they might try and trade up ahead of the first team...
-I can see a possible issue where a GM selects the wrong guy electronically, and calls the guy he thinks he selected to congratulate him, then see the guys name announced 1 pick later... I've been a part of online drafts where we had to stop and the commish had to reset a pick that was made because a guy clicked on the wrong name...
-the most common problem will most likely be extra time allowed due to bandwidth lags, but how many of those is the real issue....
I will kill you if you cut me at the knees. You will drink with me when invited and stay til I say so. We only listen to American Music. I make men nervous with just my presence. I expect an apology if you hold. I throw linemen at QB's. Believe the Lore!

So who has the value sheet? We don’t have any 3rds or 4ths, correct? What can we get if we trade down with a 2nd?

Some potential trade down options based on points and Pace's history:

Bears give up #50 to Ravens for #55 and #106

Bears give up #43 to Eagles for #53, #103, and #190

Bears give up #50 to Seahawks for #59, #133, and 2021 fourth rounder

I heard Hoge and Jahns say the Bears 2nd is equal to the Pats 3 3rd rd picks..

If that’s accurate, I like the sounds of that.

I honestly don't know what the fuck I want anymore. Hopefully some stud falls through the cracks and we pounce on him. I can poke holes in the corners that should be there, the WRs, the OL you name it. Frustrating.

Pats don’t generally give up that kind of draft capital. Especially given the needs they currently have.

Bears have a chance for a reall good draft. Starting caliber OT and cb on board.

Pick he best offensive player, whether are WR or lineman, at 43 then a S at 50. I noticed doing the Fanspeaks that one of the top 3 safeties was always there at 50 but none of the offensive guys were.

I already find this a successful draft as Pace resisted the urge to jump back into the first. Hopefully he lets the draft come to him instead of moving for his guy.

There's a lotttt of talent on the board at positions of need for us.

Xavier McKinney - S
Ezra Cleveland - OT
Antoine Winfield, Jr - S (I realllyyyyy like him)
Tee Higgins - WR
AJ Epenesa - EDGE
Yetur Gross-Matos - EDGE
Grant Delpit - S
Zack Baun - EDGE
Josh Jones - OT
Trevon Diggs -CB
Justin Madubuike - DT (personally I'd have him drop 20 lbs and put him at OLB)
Michael Pittman, Jr - WR
Jaylon Johnson - CB
Denzel Mims - WR
Jeremy Chinn - S
Robert Hunt - OG
Laviska Shenault Jr - WR
Chase Claypool - WR (like him a lot too)
Kyle Dugger - S
Lloyd Cushenberry III - OG
Terrell Lewis - EDGE
KJ Hamler - WR

That's 22 players that I like, so if 9 other players are selected in this window, ostensibly, we should be able to get two of these dudes before pick 63.

Another good list, not my work but I agree with the players. If we don't trade out of 43 and 50, we should be able to draft two dudes from:
WR
Mims
Hamler
Shenault
Pittman
Claypool

OL
Jones
Hunt
Cushenberry
Hennessy

CB
Diggs
Fulton
Johnson

DL
Gross-Matos
Epenesa
Blacklock

S
McKinney
Delpit
Winfield
Chinn

Well, that's a tough thing.

Normally, this is a year where they really should trade down.

But if R2 is supposed to be incredible, maybe you don't.

Unless you think rounds 3 and 4 will be much better than usual, too...

FTR, I'm still leaning to: use one, trade one
(subject to who is still left at that point)

I really, really like Antoine Winfield, Jr. man.

5'9 1/8" 203 lbs

Earl Thomas is 5'10 2/8" and 208 lbs

Mike Brown was 5'9 7/8" 204 lbs

Minkah Fitzpatrick is 6'0 1/8" 204 lbs

Eric Weddle is 5'11 2/8" 203 lbs

Yatta yatta. Kid's a fucking baller.

He's great for someone that needs a FS.
Not for a team that just backed up the truck for a high end FS.

Mike Brown's the only one who's even close in size. He broke a lot, and even faster and more often when they moved him to SS.

Have to agree on Winfield Jr. He's a fine free safety but doesn't belong in the box.

Another TE? WTF?!

I like Kmet, don’t get me wrong, and as ND fan, I enjoy seeing a FightingIrish join our ranks. But that was not a need. With the bevy of DBs, WRs and QBs left on the board, TE was the least I was hoping for.

That gives us 10 TE’s on the roster. We really needed that right this minute?
