....still no OL.

I'm starting to think that Ryan Pace is a Packers fan.

I know he doesn't play offensive line, so I already hate him a little bit.

We don't need offensive lineman, we have 10 tight ends.

If you REALLY like the player you should definitely like the pick too.

I'll get in line for that.

It's not my primary issue, but this makes the Duke "We Hardly Knew You" Shelley pick of last year look as ridiculous as many thought at the time.

They aren’t mutually exclusive.

I don't love the player, but I see the appeal.

He's a shade under 5'10", but he also has really good length (32 1/2" arms), has a solid build, and great explosion numbers (39.5 vert and 11'1" broad).

Yeah we're currently lousy with developmental CB's. Weird pick, they must have really loved him for some reason.

In round 5, they really ought to be mutually exclusive. The reason not to like the pick is usually built on shaky logic in these instances.

So what's your logic?

The reason is because they already have like 6 developmental corners, and there were talented offensive lineman still available.

I legitimately don’t give a shit if you think my logic is shaky or not. I like the player. I didn’t think that particular puck made sense given the overall circumstances and available players and positions where depth is an issue.

At the end of the day it’s a 5th round pick. Yay.

Yea, that's a bad reason. Good players are tough to find at this stage. If they found one you like, you should definitely like the pick. Especially if you REALLY like the guy. I mean that sounds pretty emphatic to me.

Or you could like a player but not the pick. Like you liked another player who fit a need way more. Or the player doesn't fit scheme or roster.

In this case this kid starts of a bubble player. He willake the team but realistically he could be cut.

You're entitled to an opinion I just think it's odd. Rarely is there a guy I really like this late in the game. If there was, the likes of Tolliver, Burns, Joseph etc wouldn't get in the way of me liking the pick.

Like player and value at pick, but think the reasoning is questionable. Is he BPA for mgmt, maybe but it's also saying we can't develop OL or CB let's keep trying CB where we have prospects already. Maybe there's the added value of special teams to which counters my argument to a degree.

Why can't you like a player and hate the pick? It makes perfect sense to me.

*The player is very talented and a good prospect at the CB position. However it's not the position I would have chosen to draft because I believe we have greater needs elsewhere.

But you are drafted real players, not positions. It presupposes that there was an equivalent player for one.

In this particular case I also really don't necessarily mind loading up on CBs, especially if I can be convinced this guy is a good one. I remember being kind of meh on him when I read up on him earlier in the draft process. I'm not overly impressed by most out CBs though. The two best are getting to an age where CB skills can start to diminish quickly and the guy just picked at 50 has an injury history. After that it's a flurry of other late picks and UDFAs, at least a couple of which can likely be stashed on a PS and one who may be in for a switch to S.

My biggest concern with corners while watching their college tape is seeing how often they get their head around on contested passes. Neither of the Bears new corners seem to have any highlights where they played a deep ball in a way that wouldn’t result in PI calls in the NFL. I hope coaches get that corrected.

I noticed that with Johnson. He waits until the WR's hands go up, and then shoots his arm in between them.
